Dagmar - Have you tried driving with a GPS navigation system? I had the same problem while XH was still around, and it was not helped by him telling me at every occasion that I was a lousy driver and that I could not drive anywhere. (this strangely was not the caseif I got a rental car for work & had to go someplace on business). When XH went away I bought a Tomtom GPS and now, 4 years later, I can tell you that the matter is almost resolved. With my terror of getting lost and taking a wrong turn gone I am much better in getting to the right lane in time etc and much more focussed on the rest of the road. I still have problems when it is icy, or in the dark in unfamilliar territory (night blind) but I can now drive every where, and i am 50.
