Morning.
Sheila - Alaskans know better than to plan things for August weekends - it's our rainy season - and living up to it this week.

My garden is very happy though, even it the dampness brings out the slugs - ewwww. I was out picking a bunch of lettuce for one of the gilrs at work and while it wasn't raining, it had been all night and all the plants and bushes were dripping. My flowers have pretty much had it, all the blossoms have either come off or are waterlogged. Only hanging basket that is partially protected by the roof overhang still looks decent. The lawn however, is lush.
Megan - sounds like you're keeping busy and not sitting around feeling sorry for yourself - good job!
Shannon - hope you find a way to make the ball game work. I remember going to Red Sox games with my grandfather - a big treat for a kid.
THe cats had me up at 1; 15, 4 and 4:45, and there was no way I was getting up to go to the gym, so I'll go tonight. It's the first night this week I haven't had another commitment. Last night's reception (for a municipal officials meeting hosted by the city, about 90-100 participants) was very nice. They had ordered large tents knowing that weather is unpredictable. It had stopped raining about 3 or 3:30 (reception was 5:30 - 7), and held off til about 8 which was good since the golf course (where it was held) offered all the participants a chance to use the driving range. The clouds even lifted enough so they could see the mountains. THe food was awesome - and very "friendly" - well, except maybe the wine

. I had shrimp, chicken salad, fruits, raw veggies and some chicken on a stick. I took a piece of crab/mushroom tort/quiche sort of thing, but it was kind of flavorless, so one bite did it for me. Nice to leave an event like that not feeling stuffed.
