Tita, if you figure this out let me know. I'm also hypothyroid and maintaining around 1600-1700, which is where I used to lose weight before I had thyroid issues. I also have a desk job so I don't move much except for my workouts.

I feel like I should be maintaining around 2000. I *used* to maintain at 2000. Lately though, I'm maintaining much lower, which is a problem since over the course of my thyroid diagnosis and initial dosage adjustment I gained 15lbs. I can't handle eating much less than 1500/day so losing is starting to look impossible.

Hey Shannon,
More worried I guess because of what the nutritionist said. I'm very happy eating the way I do. Like you,I allowed myself to go up to 1700-1800 and gained weigh immediately..pants were tight etc..not fun.

Hearing you say that you aren't as worried about it, I would say if 1600-1700 has been working for this long then go with it. Particularly if you aren't unhappy with the way that you currently eat. My mom is a nurse and she occasionally asks me how many calories I eat per day and then tells me it isn't enough. At first I got stressed out and thought I had to change something, but then I realized that it didn't matter what number I gave her that she would still say it wasn't enough. And, no fun when the pants got tight.

No, I finally have found a way to "eat" that really works for me. I can pretty much fit anything I want in (if I really want it)...

I think I'm going to try and stress less what others say and do what's right for me. I just was concerned I was slowing my metabolism or something. Which is something I certainly don't want to do

With so few people that actually maintain, hard to for people to understand that we just don't eat like we used to.
