No Excuses! Maintainers Food and Exercise Accountability - 3/16 -3/22
After a few weeks break (mom visit, Las Vegas work trip, and just another week for no good reason) I am back on track! I had a very munchy, not great few days including an absolutely ginormous serving of chocolate bread pudding on Saturday night (I will allow that it was incredibly fabulous!).
So, back on track. Here is my menu plan for Monday. I will edit later if I make any changes, but everything is ready to go. It's going to be really similar for the entire week, but that's okay with me.
B - Trader Joe's fat free Greek yogurt with honey, 6 oz package of fresh blackberries (about 200 calories)
L - big salad with mixed greens, shredded carrots, a scant handful of orange dried cranberries, about 5 candied walnut halves - crushed, a little bit of Trader Joe's Cranberry walnut gorgonzola vinaigrette, some red onion, grilled chicken, I'm going to say 500 calories for everything
S - tangelo (100 calories)
S - string cheese (80 calories)
S - cocoa - (60 calories)
D - curried vegetables (I made a huge pan: 1 sweet potato, red onion, big red pepper, zucchini, brussel sprouts, carrots, broccoli, green beans, 2 cans of tomatoes; it should be enough for 4 days) over brown rice (400 calories).
*EDIT* I ended up having pork carnitas (1/2 of a 330 calories serving), brown rice (1/2 of a serving of Trader Joe's heat and serve brown rice about 170 calories) and roasted asparagus.
I also added the last of the dark chocolate with salt candy bar (I got 5 servings out of it, I did really good!). My throat was scratchy, so I also had a cup of hot tea with 2 big spoons of honey. I also had an extra cup of cocoa at work. I am eating great - for maintenance, I'm trying to lose 3 lbs, I wish I knew why I can't stay focused.

Well, this weekend was ugly, so I'm recovering. I'm 1.5 pounds over my redline, 5 pounds up from Friday... I'm hoping all of that is fluid retention from my sugar and sodium palooza weekend - between the various wedding cakes and food, the enchiladas I made yesterday and the candy I decided I couldn't live without + the no exercise Thur, Fri or Sat I feel pretty ooky today...
So, today...
Exercise - 45 minutes elliptical when I get home, probably nothing else today as we have DSS tonight
B: smoothie, coffee
S: apple
L: grilled chicken salad
S: kashi go lean
D: salad from one of the three takeout places DSS will eat from
S: Kashi oatmeal cookie
Water water water...

Your salad sounds awesome Glory! Where do you get candied walnut halves? I get the fruit and yogurt salad from McDonald's just for the sugared walnuts...
ETA: I am right now drinking hot Viennese Earl Grey with Stevia to keep myself from an extra snack... I just continue to reinforce the fact that the more sugar I eat the more I want... I feel a raging need for candy right now after the weekend... Argh...

Hey Shannon, I got the candied walnut halves from Trader Joe's! they are divine but dangerous. I don't add them to the salad when I make the salad (because they would get soft and squishy). So, I carefully measure them out in the morning and put them in a little tupperware and add them to my salad at the last minute. I figure, its better to measure them out in the morning when I'm disciplined than to take the entire package to work where it would be too tempting just to "shake a few more on." The package has 5 servings (200 calories each) so I'm very interested to see how many servings I get using my method!
Tuesday *edited to add actual food*
B - Trader Joe's fat free Greek yogurt with honey, 6 oz package of fresh blackberries (about 200 calories)
S - cocoa - (60 calories)
L - big salad with mixed greens, shredded carrots, a scant handful of orange dried cranberries, about 5 candied walnut halves - crushed, a little bit of Trader Joe's Cranberry walnut gorgonzola vinaigrette, some red onion, grilled chicken, I'm going to say 500 calories for everything
S - 1/2 of a Jamba Juice blueberry oat bar (140 calories), 3/4 of a mango mantra Juice (with raspberries instead of peaches) - about 150 calories.
Dinner - pork carnitas (1/2 of a 330 calories serving), brown rice (1/2 of a serving of Trader Joe's heat and serve brown rice about 170 calories) and roasted asparagus.

Glory - I desperately need a trip back to Trader Joe's... I'm out of the European Style yogurt, carnitas, salsa, fresh corn tortillas... all staple items in my menu these days. And, there are so many other things there I want to try....
Yesterday came in fine on food, no exercise... I'm back under redline today, but still two pounds over Friday morning. Today is the day to get my butt back in gear on exercise... I have my bag in the car, the sun is out and the ground is drying and DH is going to hang with a buddy after work so park here I come!
Today:
Exercise - run after work, some yoga to stretch me out when I get home from that
B: smoothie, enough to float a battleship
S: no morning snack, having lunch earlier than normal
L: going for Thai food with a recruiter trying to win my business... No noodles this time, I'll go for something with lots of veggies and rice on the side that I can eat only a little bit of...
S: apple
S: maybe Kashi Go Lean, depends on lunch
D: leftover chicken enchiladas if DH eats with friend, probably pasta if he doesn't
S: peanut butter graham cracker

Another OP day yesterday, so of course I gained 6 lbs of water overnight. It seems to be mildly cycle-related...or at least, the random gains and fluctuations increase toward the second half of the month.
Not in a great mood today. Feeling like my legs are heavy from retaining water and have plans I really don't want to have tonight - the combo is mucho irritating.
B - Yogurt, almond milk, strawberry smoothie, orange
S - Apple, laughing cow wedge
L - Leftovers from last night - tri tip, roasted red potatoes, roasted asparagus
S - Muscle Milk Lite
S - WW Tortilla w/ turkey, hummus, pickles, sugar free chai
D - Extra Lean Corned Beef (v small portion), cabbage, potatoes, carrots
S - I am going to try to refuse whatever dessert our guests are bringing (they insisted) Knowing those particular guests, no won't be accepted for an answer, and it'll be uncomfortable! Yay. So either something I don't want, or an NSA Ice Cream bar after they leave.
60 min elliptical, 65 min strength circuits
Tons of water and green tea (though I'm sure that won't be enough to counteract the corned beef...although this one actually isn't as salty as most.

I skipped my treadmill this morning.
Glory, have you tried Trader Joe's sweet and spicy pecans? They aren't quite as sweet as the sweet walnuts I've tried and they have a little spicy bite to them. Yum.
B~Morningstar Farms southwest veggie patty
S~grapefruit
L~salad (spring mix, chicken, dried cranberries, pecans, gorgonzola cheese, TJ's raspberry vinaigrette), Greek yogurt, tangelo
S~apple
D~eggs of some sort

Ooo, now I have to look for the sweet and spicy pecans, too... I got chili spiced mango a while back and it was really good...
My great plans for high veggie no rice lunch crashed and burned with basil fried rice... So, the rest of the day is now going to be revised...

Well, my afternoon snacks changed. I got a mango mantra Jamba Juice (the small one, with the fewest calories), drank 3/4 of it. I also got a blueberry oatcake, but it just wasn't good. I'm eating this oatcake, thinking, wow this isn't very good - why are you finishing it? So, I threw away the other half because why waste calories on something that just isnt any good?
I also went to the doctors. Fully dressed on the doctor's scale I weighed 135. That's pretty much inline with my home scale, so that's good.
