Default i love the fact im maintaining but..

I am not at my weight loss goal yet. I have mainted the same weight now for 3 weeks. I am very happy I am maintaining, but I am not looseing anymore and its starting to get to me some. My question is this. can you working out on a different piece of equipment cause you to loose more weight than say walking? ive been walking for about 3 weeks and the scale is not budgeing. I know thats not the only way of progres. My jeans are still getting smaler and I see more muscle definition in my legs. But i was wondering if working out at the gym for me would show more progress and burn more calories. See I worked out at the gym before and it seemed I burned twice as many calories on a treamill than say walkign in the park. I was also doing weights there as well. Do you guys think I should go back to the gym to get the scale moving again? I dont ahve the money right now but I dont know of any other way to get the scale moving. I bought some ankle weights this week too hopeing it would burn more so far nothing. Help ladies i want to get the scale moving again!

Hey It sounds more like you have a little plateau. To break a plateau, I would recommend for a week, an absolute slavish and devoted record of every bite of food you put in your mouth. I would also suggest making your food as whole and unprocessed as possible. I would also recommend upping the duration and/or intensity of your exercise.

Weight loss is a long process, 3 weeks is not a very long time at all (although it may feel like it right now). Keep up your healthy eating habits, stay vigilant and work out a little harder. You will break through!

I see you are doing a lot of exercise but you don't say anything about food. Are you on a diet plan ? Exercise and diet together are most effective for weight loss.

Sorry about that and thank you. Ive been doing this since Sept and just reached a plateau. I know three weeks isnt horrible, just would like to see some more lose. I do weight watchers point system. I walk for an hour already so not sure how much I should up it then? I walk about 5 times a week. I eat a healthy diet for the most part, but I do notice when I throw in more points in the point system that are chocolate, etc. than say more fruits, etc. then the weight stays on more or a i dont loose any. I allow myself a splurge on the weekend I always do where i dont cound points for one day. I have tried to stay within a certain point range even with the splurging and I have a problem with it all the time. So basically in a nutshell I notice when I say eat better all week like fruits, veggies, etc then maybe only have chocolate ont eh weekend or only splurge one day on the weekend I loose more. I definatly drink alot of water. Im a big snacker, I love chocolate. I love fried foods. I dont want to deprive myself, but at the same time again i notice with the "denser' food slike fruit i loose more.

I think you may have answered your own question here.

Sounds like your "plateau" is the self-induced variety. In order to lose weight, consistiently, that is you just may have to buckle down and do what has proven to work for you.

Splurge days will kill weight loss. You can get away with them for a while, but I think the majority of people waaaay underestimate the calories they take in on a day like that. I could easily eat 3-4,000 on a binge day. That's about a pound!
Sounds like you need to tighten things up.

That said, I'm kind of stuck myself. I can't get these last 5 pounds off!

I really need to tighten up the diet myself, but I'm not totally motivated to do that right now as I have gotten a bit content with how I look.

I need one of those KITAs

The "splurge" can sneek up on you. I see the weight loss journey as cycles. You are go hardcore for awhile, then you lossen up on tracking, then you think you can do it without tracking, then you don't lose or you gain, then you go back to being hardcore. Just a natural rithym it seems

thanks guys I notice alot of it is just needing to kick myself in the butt. do things harder. Every thrusday it seems to hit where i want to devor everything then saturday its the same thing. I know i have to learn just to stick within myp oints on the weekends even no matter how hungry I think I am. Plus I noticed today walking just dont cut it for me. SO I think I will buy some dvds and see how I do with them. I know its me causing this. The biggest thing is that I am trying to conceive and when I dont conceive I notice thats when I turn to food more.

I am in the same boat as you are so this thread is timely for me too. I cheat too much and it's slowing my results.

As for DVDs, you can get an awesome workout from a DVD. I have many of The Firm series and I also recently got the Turbo Jam series. I love both of them for different reasons. Either one would get you going and it's great to have something different to do to change up your routine.

I've also survived infertility. We have 8 year old twins via IUI and a 5 year old girl from the same method- this was after we had 2 IVF attempts fail. It's a hard road. I WISH I'd gotten more weight off BEFORE the twin pregnancy. They were born 11 weeks early and there's not a doubt in my mind it was because my body couldn't maintain my 220 lbs. AND 2 little extra bodies. I was asking too much of it. We're lucky that the twins have no long term problems other than asthma. Our daughter almost didn't make it though due to some complications- it's tough to start life at 1 lb. 15 oz.

I tell you that story to provide further motivation for you to get the weight off. If our daughter had died, it would haunt me forever to think that it may have been partially attributable to something I could have prevented. Lots of women who are heavier than I carry babies just fine but your goal to get the weight off prior to pregnancy is VERY smart.

binders--I am so glad your girls are okay. Hugs to you. Being a mommy is hard and being an overweight mommy is even harder.

yes it's best to do a strict written diary of what you are eating so that you can target the faulty points.

does a high carb breakfast = eating mindlessly the rest of the day b/c you're hungry?

Not enough protein?
