Maintainers Chat: September 22 - 28
Good morning and happy new week! I'm rubbing the sleep out of my eyes and contemplating another mug of coffee to wake up. DH and I were out late at a Swell Season concert (the couple from the movie Once -- Glenn Hansard and Markéta Irglová) and it's just a little hard to get going this morning. The concert was fantastic and if you've never seen the movie, I highly recommend it. Every time I woke up during the night, the music was going through my head.
We went for dinner before the concert at a hole-in-the-wall Greek restaurant right across the street from the theater. Right after we sat down, a couple came in and sat beside us and I realized it was Glenn Hansard and Markéta Irglová. Almost everyone in the restaurant was going to the show and knew who they were, but people left them alone or just told them they were looking forward to the show. Very cool!
So onward to another week of knee rehab. My goals for this week are to build my time on the bike to an hour a day, straighten my legs as much as possible, and really get back into an upper body routine. I spend so much time every day on the lower body exercises and stretches that I've been neglecting everything else. So I need to build in some extra time.
I went shopping for new jeans on Saturday and there's nothing like trying on jeans to make one resolve to stick to plan!! So here's to a good week for all of us!!

The other thing which will make me stick to a plan is going out wearing jeans that are too tight which used to fit, and not so long ago! Here's to a great, on plan week!
Cardio done...packed and planned for the day.

Good morning!
Meg, I don't know who they are, but it was cool that they were in the restaurant (and that people left them alone).
Mel, you did your cardio already? I'm not even dressed yet.
I was on plan all week-end, yay! I ran a 5k on Sat. morning and had my personal best time! And I won my age group! (It was a pretty small race.) I saw my Dad yesterday and he says, "So, did you win? he he" and I said, "Yeah, I did." You should have seen his face.

Meg - I know who they are and have meant to see the movie but still haven't. How cool that you spotted them before the show!
Hi Mel!
Wardhog - Congratulations on your fantastic 5K results! You should be very very proud of yourself!
My husband and I took a little stroll with the baby yesterday and I tried to run a few steps. Wow. I went from being able to run more than 10 miles at a time to not being able to run 10 feet! Talk about starting over!
On Saturday I started counting my WW points again. I plan to get between 2000 and 2500 calories a day while nursing. I may not lose any weight at that level until I can fit in some exercise but I won't gain, I believe, and it will get me back in the habit of portion control. I'm not restricting myself much -- I'm trying to stay closer to 2000 calories but I'm ok w/the upper end too.
I thought I might break out an old WATP DVD today but then the baby kept me up from 1:40am on, so that's not gonna happen. Taking him to the pediatrician today to find out the results of the test they did. Here are a few pics of him, in case you're interested!

Aww, Lisa he is a real cutie.
Meg, sounds like you had a much deserved nice evening out with your DH.
Mel, I'm with you. I'm also trying to stay on plan again cause my jeans are getting pretty dang tight.
I'm waiting for my coffee to get ready. I plan to go for my walk this morning and walk my dogs too.
Gotta share what Shelbey did. She emptied the cat's litter box 3 days ago. Bad news was she didn't tell anyone that we were out of kitty litter. Just sat the empty litter box back in the extra room without saying a word. Needless to say yesterday I woke up to a very stinky house and went on a search trying to find out why. Of course I was horrified to find the stinky mess. I cleaned the mess, bought the new kitty litter, bought spray and pop up air fresheners and opened all the windows. My house finally smells good again today. After our talk I don't think she'll do this again.
DH got another promotion at work last week and that was our good news. yeah, more money is always good news. I now have an order in for 20 more boxes of my wood flooring so we can finish up doing all the bedroom floors. Beginning after Oct. 1st we'll also be very busy remodeling our deck and gazebo.
I just now opened a very disappointing e-mail from Shane. His leave time has been pushed back til Oct. 18th (he was supposed to have been home by Oct. 1st). . I'm gonna head out and get him some treats and mail them to him. He sounded really bummed. I know that it cheers him up to recieve packages from home.

Good Morning, Just got back from taking the Grands to school. Stopped at the grocery store on the way home for a few things. Nothing much going on, not much time for anything. have to pick up Gd at noon and GS at 3. Not much time to fit anything else in. Like a desperateally needed hair cut! My hair hasn't been this long in years! I usually have a chin length bob and it's almost to my shoulders. DIl has 2 weeks left at her old job and 2 weeks training for the new job, and then she will be working from home. Things will change drastically for us. Don't know what I'll do with all that time. Hircut maybe?
Lisa, How adorable. I miss cuddling a baby. Now the only time they let me hug them is if none of their friends are looking!
Wardhog, Congratulations!!! That is really something to brag about!! I would be on the phone telling everyone I knew! Maybe even people I didnd't know. Imagine getting a sales call and breaking in with "I was in a 5k this week and i won". Think they might not call back?
Mel, Finished already? I like to exercise in the morning too. If I wait untill later it gets missed. My big incentive for keeping the weight off is how my jeans fit too.
Meg, You're doing so well. But, you're right. Being fit really helps recover more quickly. How fun, seeing the stars of the show before show time. And how thoughtful that everyone let them enjoy their meal in peace. It must get awfully trying to be constantly interupted. But, at the same time, I suppose they wouldn't like to be totally ignored all the time either.
Lilly, I know you, and Shane, are disapointed that he isn't coming home when planned. Hope the care package cheers him up.
make it a good day, Freda

Good morning everyone! Good to hear from you Lily! You're so considerate letting your son's friend stay with you--it must be hard for him, though, with his mom sick and him going away. I betcha can't wait for your son to come home. And WOW, a Harley? That's a pretty generous gift!
Lisa~the baby is adorable!
Freda~I know what you mean--I need a haircut, too. I used to go every 6 weeks (a lot due to the fact that I color it, too, and the roots always needed touching up) but I decided I want it long(er) again. It's nice to be able to pull it in a ponytail when working out. Well, I still have a way to go for that, but until then I've decided not to cut it as often (and then when I do go, it is only a trim). I think it's been about 3 months since I've been (so my roots are looking pretty bad) but I'm not making an appointment just yet.
DD wrote yesterday that she's decided to come home next weekend. I think it is only because a friend of hers moved into her dorm at UCI this weekend and she does not have a car and she wants to come home to see the high school football game. I guess it's pretty nice of my DD to get off school, drive down to Irvine, pick up her friend and drive her back to the desert. But since I wasn't expecting DD for at least another month, I'm happy!
We didn't go see a movie yesterday because DH wanted to watch the Ryder Cup and so it was a pretty boring day. I really should have cleaned my closet, but I couldn't get motivated. I've got to get it done, though--who needs clothes that haven't been worn for years?

Lisa, the baby is so cute!
Lily - what a mess with the cat litter! I have a funny story about stinky things . . . A week or so ago I was driving home from the dog park with the dog in the back of the car when it started to smell like poop. At first I thought the dog had pooped in the back of the car, but he NEVER has accidents so it would have been really weird. Then I realized I was driving behind a truck full of pigs!!
DH's grandfather passed away this weekend. My past few days and next few are kind of a mess with all the family functions. I've been pretty good with not going overboard on the food, but there are multiple meals to come still, and the desserts are piling up at the in-laws' house.
On the other hand, my exercise has been totally on track. I'm moving along with C25K, and yesterday I took the dog for a looooooooooooooong walk - 8.4 miles! I didn't realize it was that far actually, then I looked it up when I got home (3 hours after I left). In any case, after that long walk yesterday and my wog this morning, my legs are pretty sore! We'll see how I do in aqua aerobics tonight.

Good morning all,
I spent the weekend organizing/unpacking some more, trying to sleep, relaxed a bit. I wonder if I'm sick or something. I've just had so little energy for months now. I finally felt like I caught up on sleep from moving last weekend. Yesterday I cleared off my dining room table so that we could actually eat on it, and found my Oxygen magazines. I'm rejoicing in the small victories these days.
Maybe Lily could come and fix up my new place for me?
I was terribly off plan last week. My emotions have been all over the place for the last few weeks (not PMSing) and between that and feeling so tired I've been snacking constantly. Suddenly on Saturday my body just sort of said "I'm bored with all of this crazy food" and I just went back to eating OP. I went to the produce stand and re-stocked the fridge with lots of fresh foods. I took a few days off from the gym last week, too, and am going back today and changing up my routine a bit. I'm just going to try again.
Meg, I'm glad that your DH could get away from work to go to the concert. How neat you saw the performers at dinner!
Wardhog, awesome job running the 5K and winning!
Lisa, your son is cute as a button!
Lily, I'm laughing about Shelbey's move with the kitty litter b/c you always have some funny story about your girls. So sorry to hear Shane's leave has been pushed back. I'm sure that he'll love a care package.
Freda, it sounds like your grandkids are keeping you very busy!
I have jury duty tomorrow. Doh! Have a great day everyone.

Allison, you'd better make sure the washing machine is free for DD this weekend!
Jessica, I'm so sorry to hear about DH's grandfather.

Excuse me for jumping in, but I just wanted to let all of you know how much help you are to me. I'm not "maintaining" yet, but whenever I get tired of working on weightloss, or get feeling discouraged, I come right to this section to get reenergized. Thanks!!

Dang, you're right!!! She mentioned that she wanted to buy some new clothes so she doesn't have to do laundry as often...I'd offer to take her but I have a feeling she'd rather shop with friends.
Jessica~so sorry to hear about your DH's grandfather. I got an email this morning about someone we do business with, she died over the weekend, so I went to the local paper to search for her obituary and while looking I found that the architect who designed our house died. Very sad.
Megan~I hope you feel better. My MIL had a 24 hour bug Saturday and then her daughter got it on Sunday. DD went to donate blood today and they rejected her because she has diarrhea. Instead she filled out the paperwork to become a marrow donor (that actually impressed the heck out of me).
MonteCristo~join us and come back often!!
