Good morning! I just poured my mug of coffee and am not quite awake yet so I'll be back in a bit.

Let's make it a great, on-plan week!

Talking Good morning!

Just got my tea , let the cats out, and am ready to start the countdown to vacation time .

Just weighed in at 132 , which is my norm after the weekend. I had a dinner out last night and a muffin with my afternoon tea, and some snacks in front of the TV Saturday night.

For the 14 days left until my vacation I'm going to strive to stay under my daily calorie allotment. I'm even shooting to get under 130 slightly to compensate for anything I'm going to indulge in while in NYC ( peanut butter donut anyone?).

Exercise is a no-brainer for me. As long as I'm working I'm walking. I also coaxed DH into changing his getting up start time ( he usually takes about 15 minutes to get out of bed) to 30 minutes later so I can get in a good weights workout 3 times this and next week.

Off to do my yoga/stretching stuff. Have a great week everyone!

Dagmar

Peanut butter donuts?! Good heavens, I've never heard of those! (probably a very good thing) Dagmar, two pounds in two weeks is totally doable and it will be great to have a little room to play on vacation. But don't be surprised if you come back from NYC having lost weight -- I always do because of all the walking I do while we're there.

Good morning! I had my workout all planned, but now my husband says he won't be able to take my son to school. Gotta figure something else out. Grrr ....

Forgot to say - my eating was atrocious over the week-end. I am getting back on the horse today.

Good Morning all, Didn't do much this weekend. I did manage to stay Op though. Went to the local farmers market and bought some fresh Michigan apples. They were worth the wait. I had stopped eating apples for awhile. they had goten too expensive and just didn't have the taste and texture I was looking for. Isn't it frustraing to get something you love and it just not taste right? We will be keeping the Grands next week while DS and DDIL go to texas, so we will take them to the Cider Mill for fresh apples and cider.

Dagmar, I'm sure you will do fine in NY, but it's always good to have a couple of pounds to play with. You can indulge in a few things and not worry about it. And as far as exercise, I agree with Meg, You will probably get more than enough with all the walking.

Wardhog, Always obsticals huh? I've learned to just take them in stride and do the best I can. Frustrating though, when you have you day planned.

Bargoo, I've never heard of them either. And glad i've never come across them!

Make it a good day, Freda

Hmmm, what to say about this weekend's eating? It was beyond bad, and into disastrous. DS is apparently going through a growth spurt, waking up a whole lot more to nurse, which pretty much leaves me a zombie. That means bad food choices, and lots of 'em. I'm glad he's growing though, and today is a new day for me. Sometimes I find a really bad food blow out will get me back on track quicker and more effectively than heading off all the little extra nibbles here and there, so here's hoping. Also, the children are back in day care as I start my vacation week, so I slept for two, count 'em, two extra hours after they left.

Hi Meg, bargoo!

Dagmar, I must say that the idea of peanut butter donuts doesn't appeal to me. I hope it stays that way!

Wardhog, I'm right there with you on doing better. I'm skipping my morning workout for sleep, which I think is the right decision, but need to think of something to do for later.

Freda, those apples sound great!

Dagmar~usually I would be a bit worried about a guy in a car following me, but I was pretty confident that he had my best interests in mind. He was obviously worried about the coyote.

Sheila~master closet! LOL! Yeah, the homes there are ridiculously priced, but I have to say that they are our bread and butter. We do windows and mirrors and other glass stuff and have helped build numerous homes in the Bighorn area. I used to wonder how my DH could stand working in multi million dollar homes and then come home to our modest home. Yeah, we upgraded, but nowhere near what those homes are like (and that's for the best, can you IMAGINE the cost to cool one of those monsters in the summer? Over $2500 a month!).

I am having computer problems at work--some of my Excel files simply will not save and the program crashes. Others save with no problem. I've run diagnostic tests (no errors) uninstalled and reinstalled the software and nothing seems to work. Hopefully my IT guy REMEMBERS that he's coming today to look at the problem (otherwise I have to move to another computer each time I need to do a little Excel work--it's annoying).

No bad eating for me this weekend, although my weight is up 1 pound. I'm not worried about that, but I do wish it would continue down rather than hovering where it is.

Allison - that's scary about the coyote! I saw one crossing from a farm field into our neighborhood a while back but haven't seen any since, and we don't hear them at night or anything. DH still thinks it was a fox, not a coyote, so I guess that's possible.

Lily - Sorry to hear about your lab results. How far down the list are you for a liver transplant?

Anne - glad to hear your DS is growing! Have fun on your vacation week.

Freda - I'm glad it's apple season again too! We've been buying at our farmer's market but I think we might go pick some this weekend.

I am slinking in today up 4lbs that I am praying is water weight. I'm guessing at least 3lbs of it is because I ate a lot of salty food and drank too much alcohol last night. Plus, my hamstrings are sore so there could be some water there too. I had been weighing in up a pound all last week though, which I had thought was from TOM but it hasn't gone away yet.

On the other hand, I have been great at getting my exercise! This morning I did C25K week 2 for the first time. The dog loved it! Tonight is my first aqua aerobics class.

Morning all!

I had a decent eating weekend. Yesterday I made a small pork roast in the crockpot with a cranberry sauce. Kept it nice and moist, too.

The weather is definitely fall here, and today's temps are forecast to be in the high 50's! No frost at night yet, but that's only because it's cloudy. As soon as it clears those temps will drop right down. We'll cover our lettuce and other greens for the few frosty days to finish them off.

I'm going to go swimming tonight for a different cardio workout. I cannot remember the last time I swam laps, so I don't anticipate a great workout, or rather a very long workout. I used to swim all the time in college and grad school, so I think if I keep at it I'll improve pretty quickly. I'm thinking that it'll be a good arms workout as well as cardio.

Hi Dagmar, Meg, WardHog, Bargoo! I've never heard of peanut butter donuts either and I think they sound kind of icky!

Freda - those fresh apples sound yummy. I never liked apples much growing up but now I love them.

Anne -- yay for the extra sleep! I've been meaning to call you and I will very soon! My mom is still here until the end of this week.

Allison - sorry about the computer problems -- that can be so annoying when you're trying to get things done!

Jessica -- aqua aerobics sounds fun. I've never been a water person, though, and that's mostly because I was afraid for anyone to see me in a swimsuit! I never even learned how to swim, sadly.

Pat - your pork roast sounds delicious, and I'm jealous of your fall weather! Still in the 80s here, but that's better than 90s!

Mom and I took little Henry to the pediatrician today for his one-month appointment. He's up to 10 pounds -- woohoo! They said that's good weight gain but they didn't tell me any of that percentile stuff. I'll look it up later, though I know those charts are based on formula-fed babies, not breastfed ones. Everything looked good and healthy with the baby, and he got his first little shot, poor thing. He'll get lots more next month, which will break my heart, of course. BFing is going much better, and he even took a bottle of breast milk twice now from his daddy. My husband was so excited to get to feed him, and the baby took the bottle well. Yay!

I don't have much to say about my eating, because I don't want to admit how horrible it's been!! My mom and I have been eating so much junk. I love having her here, but she and I are not being very good influences on each other right now!! We keep talking about how we'll get back on track next week. My plan is to REALLY start thinking about calorie counting after my 6-week postpartum checkup, which is September 19. You ladies need to keep me in check after that point!!

Have a great week, everyone!

Hi everyone, the plumbers just left after being here for 3.5 hrs. OMG, my bill was enormous and I'm wishing now I had become a plumber, LOL. They replaced 3 sink faucets and 1 tub faucet though. Seems whoever built this house used galvanized fixtures and over time they had corroded with calcium and had to be replaced. Anyway I'm glad it's done now so I can start to remodel the bathrooms.

Jessica, the dr. really never tells me how far down I am on the list for a liver transplant. The list is always constantly changing anyway as people's disease progress and the sickest are first to get a new liver. (also I think it has to do with how good of insurance you have). I do have good insurance and am still hoping that I don't need surgery anytime soon.

I've decided the only way for me to combat the frustration of increasing prednisone need is to do my best to minimize any weight damage. I'm writing down every bite I eat. At least trying to stay accountable. There is no junk food in my house and I've stocked up on having plenty of fresh fruits and veggies to snack on. I even re-read my SBD book last night just to refresh.

I have another Dr. appt. this coming Thursday. Re-testing blood sugar and insulin levels again. I feel like between me and Lacy we are constantly at a doctor. I have now scheduled us both for eye appt's too. (my hepatologist keeps warning me to keep my eye appt's frequently because all this prednisone is likely to also cause cataracts). Uggh.

Anne, I don't blame you a bit. I'd definitely take any chance to get caught up on sleep when it's possible.

Good afternoon everyone,

Lily, I'm sorry to hear about your bad test results. I think doing your best to maintain your healthy lifestyle is a good approach - having your body in the best health that you can make it will help you, I think, in whatever future medical treatment you have. Glad you got your faucets fixed!

Bargoo, you continue to be in my thoughts.

Lisa, I'm so glad to hear that you, Henry, and DH are all doing well. I would never even begin to imagine what it's like to have been pregnant, given birth, and dealt with all the hormonal changes in there. I can only say that I hear it's really tough, and you have my admiration and belief that when you're ready to start counting calories again you will do it.

Pat, your pork roast & cranberry sauce sounds yummy. I love fall foods!

Jessica, I'm sure that I know nothing about water weight from too much alcohol. LOL, we had quite the party Saturday night. You have my admiration for getting right back on the scale.

Allison, how scary! Glad you and the dogs are safe.

Anne, glad DS is growing and hungry! See, you're a GREAT mom!!!

Freda, those apples sounds delicious. I can't wait until I can find fresh & less expensive apples too.

Like Meg, it's probably best that I've never encountered the peanut butter donut too. Mmm...

Hi guys!

Morning, Meg! How are the bionic knees?

Mudpie, I have to say a peanut butter donut does appeal to me. Enjoy a bite for me! Have a lot of fun!

Ward, what matters is getting back on the wagon. I didn't get to comment before (or maybe I did?) but your pictures in the picture thread are awesome!

Hey, bargoo, how was your weekend?

Have fun with the grandkids, Freda.

Anne, I'm so glad you got to go back to sleep. Sleep is a beautiful thing!

Allison, that is scary about the coyote. I've never seen one act that way. The ones I see saunter off in another direction. I smelled mountain lion pee once when I was hiking (mountain lion pee is very distinct to me) and that was scary. I started talking really loud and swinging my arms around to make it take off if it was still in the vicinity. Once, DH saw a mountain lion while he was running at dawn in San Diego. It was strolling down a residential neighborhood that was close to some of the canyons. That would have scared the snot out of me.

Waterrat, your dinner sounds really good. DH & went to a fancy schmancy restaurant Sat night and I ordered a pork chop with cinnamon/fig/cherry sauce. Best sauce ever! I love fruit with savory dishes. I saved half the pork chop for dinner last night!

I'm so glad you've gotten into the swing of things for breastfeeding, Lisa! I hope it just gets easier and easier for you.

Hi Lily, Jessica & Megan and all!

I'm off to the gym!

Midwife, one of my friends had a mountain lion come into her backyard and hang out by the pool! She lived up in the hills in Tarzana (san fernando valley, los angeles). Apparently news vans and everything came to cover the story, and eventually the mountain lion just got up and wandered off again.
