Default throat update

I had mentioned in a previous thread I have been having some difficulties swallowing fibrous foods (like baby carrots). An upper GI exam revealed nothing (and cost a lot of money, wee!) and I was scheduled for an upper GI endoscopy next Thursday.

The doctor ordered some bloodwork when I was in earlier this week and it turns out, I have....mono.

Well, it explains why I've been sooo tired lately but I seem to have been spared the worst of the symptoms (fever, stomach pain, achey muscles).

According to my doctors, my tonsils are pretty swollen and that's why I'm having trouble swallowing.

Oh Glory! Mono is the WORST!

I went through it in college. It was exhausting just to climb a flight of stairs.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Oh my gosh, mono! When DD had it two years ago, she said it was the worse sore throat she's ever had in her life, so She could barely swallow liquids, let alone solid food.

you continue to recover without any of those nasty symptoms! Do you have any idea how long you've had it?

Ha, thanks for the support guys! The doctor said there wasn't any way to tell how long I've had it, but I've had the swallowing issues for about a month now, hopefully I'm on the downhill side of it!

I've been wondering if you ever figured out what was wrong with your throat. Wow, I can't believe you've had mono and didn't know it.

I've never had mono, but from what I understand, it can be very serious. Take care of yourself and I hope you are over it soon.

BTW--I'm glad the snapper worked out!

Well - at least it isn't something that is going to require surgery! I'm glad they figured out what it was.

I'm glad they figured out what it was! I had mono a couple years ago and I remember the sore swollen throat being so awful that I would have days where all I ate or drank was about three spoonfuls of soup. If you've had it for a month you are probably on the downside though, I hope you get better soon!

I was away for the weekend and am just seeing this now. Wow. Mono. I had a friend had it recently. She had a pretty rough couple of weeks and then she saw great improvement. She did say it was the worst sore throat she's ever had.

As bad as mono can be, I'm glad it's nothing worse. Hoping you have a speedy recovery.

I hope you feel better soon, Glory. I never had mono, but when my dd had it, she had no other symptoms other than that she wanted to sleep a lot. That alone told me there was something seriously wrong with her.

ACK, mono! I've heard that was super exhausting. A medical test showed that my GF had mono once and was not even aware; she was just tired all the time. Now, I wonder if she's just given me a permanent case 'cause I can't stop wanting to sleep!

But seriously, Glory, I hope you're doing better now! Chicken soup and ginger ale is being virtually sent your way
