Talking I never thought I'd wear (fill in the blank), but I do!!!

My list of things I WILL wear now:
~ Fitted suits and dresses
~ Clothing with details at the waist (with tucked in shirts and blouses)
~ Layers that have a short top layer over a longer bottom layer
~ midrise jeans with zippers and straight or boot-cut legs
~ COLORS! (though I am having a hard time banishing black from my wardrobe)
~ Suits - I could never find suits that looked good - I always owned speparates
~ Heels - I always wore flats - my feet hurt too much with heels
~ trendy hair style
~ cute glasses
~ makeup - I didn't wear much since I didn't really think it would help anyway
~ BELTS

I liked this so much I split it into its own thread...CountingDown, hope you don't mind!

- Makeup (I'll second that one)
- Skirts
- Shorts (which is really recent...but wow, I never thought it possible)
- Skinny jeans
- Fitted t-shirts
- Tank Tops and cap sleeves!

size 8 and this I say because last weekend I bought my first size 8 jeans! In fact, I still think those sizes are wrong because I can't possibly fit into that. I see size 8 or even 10 and it looks so tiny.

Yessss!!!! BELTS, I have a slew of them, love them.

And:

-Jewelry. I never used to bother with jewelry, oddly enough. I love it now.
-Mascara, I never bothered with that either
-Sunglasses. I was too self-conscious to wear them. Now I adore them.
-tucked in shirts, LOVE that look
-low rise jeans, well maybe semi-lowrise jeans
-very fitted shirts.
-button-down shirts (tucked in of course)
-high heeled shoes, oh how I LOVE those. Simply could not wear them in the past.
-all white, in the summer of course
-bathing suit

Robin, so funny about the heels, because I just remembered another...

FLATS - I used to live in heels, with the hope that making myself look taller would make me look more proportional overall. When I had my knee surgery and had to switch, I discovered a deep love of kicky, adorable flats! I rarely wear heels now, actually, unless I am going out.

Another "Belts" vote...my fat held up my pants just fine, thanks.

I never thought, realistically, my body could be smaller than a 12...So I never EVER dreamed I'd be in an 8.

White ANYTHING...though I still don't wear it much, I just spend too much time cooking/baking/with my hands in things and am notorious for spilling. Oh well!

-Belts
-Form fitting tops. DH calls these "boobie shirts" - and he loves them
-Boots that come up over the calf - my legs used to be too fat for those.

OMG yes, the boots.

Also knee socks. They used to be so tight on my leg that they'd cut off my circulation.

My husband loves those shirts too!

Mid-rise jeans without the muffin top - I can actually wear a size 4

Striped shirts that have the stripes horizontally

Cute little blazers that I can actually button and still have room in them

Bikini underwear

Maybe a tankini this year?

Sadly, I could start another thread on what I STILL can't wear, and yup, boots would be one of them........

My left calf, not my right one, but my left one is STILL too darn large to wear boots. Yes, that's where my fat remains. I actually did find a pair that fit around it, but I didn't like how it looked.

I will also never, ever wear a bikini or a bathing suit without a pair of shorts. It's okay though. I am really very happy to be able to wear all the fabulous clothes that I do. Really.

And that is funny about your take on the heels Amanda. When I was 287 lbs, there was no way on earth I could stand on a skinny heel. No way. Not to mention there was nooo high heel that was made wide enough for my foot.

Sleeveless - every time, it's still an "I can't believe sleeveless looks good" moment.

  • Size 2!!!!!
  • A bikini!!!! Oh my God! I haven't exposed my midriff in public since 2nd grade; I wore my first bikini as a adult earlier this year for my girls' trip to Mexico. Now I'm thinking of buying a sporty one for my swim workouts (so my midriff gets tan while I swim)!
  • Dresses--at my highest weight, my hips were at least two sizes (possibly more) larger than my upper body. I absolutely could not find any dresses that would fit; everything had to be two pieces. Now I've developed an addiction to dresses. Recently I tried one on and the hips were too big and the upper body was too small--the exact opposite of the problem I had before. All that strength training paying off!
  • Tight t-shirts like the ones in my after pictures. I always wore loose-fitting shirts to hide my body shape. Plus, with hips two sizes larger than my upper body, finding fitted shirts that actually fit was impossible.
  • Jeans! At 150 lbs, I absolutely was not comfortable with anything tight around my waist--I would literally get stomach cramps. All my pants had to be slightly large through the waist and jeans were out of the question.
  • Tight workout gear! When I first started exercising I wore XL tunic tees from Lands End with very baggy and long jersey shorts. I remember when I bought my first almost fitted, size large t-shirt and being completely self-conscious about it. My trainer had to convince me that it wasn't too tight and it still sat in the drawer for a month or so before I had the courage to wear it. Now that t-shirt has been relegated to housework because it hangs off me and I wear XS tanks with cool straps and cut-outs in the back. I even have a couple of Under Armour shirts that I wear when I am feeling particularly skinny.

But I still cannot wear a shirt tucked in with a belt. I don't know if I'm not doing the look right or if it's just that I'm too short-waisted (I'm a petite on top and regular on the bottom), but this style always looks strange on me. And it's not just my perception, even my SO (who normally thinks I am insane when I criticize how I look) agrees that it just doesn't work for me.

Skirts and dresses in the summer. I hated wearing them without hose because of the "rub" and hose was too hot, so summer came and I suffered ... usually with pants and capris because I hated myself in shorts. Now I can wear skirts and bare legs in summer...

And skirts with boots in winter! Boots never fit me either

And sleeveless/cap sleeves -- yes!!

And so much more!!!!!

Hmmm...tight shirts (without feeling conscientious about it) and tight, low rise jeans. Oh, and shorts that don't ride up when you walk--you know from your thighs rubbing together!

I'm another one who probably won't wear boots (at least those that go up over the calf). I have huge calves--losing weight has no impact on them.
