Hi maintainers,

Wellcome to rosie and jen and valerie!

Lilly - sounds like hard work ! I hear you on the "so tired I deserve a treat " theme. You are doing fine, i'm sure this will pass too. And you came to your sesnses before eating all of the icecream. Did you throw the rest out or is this a non-binge thing with you ?

have a great day all,
Rabbit

Jen and GrandCanyon Gal, Welcome to our chat. Sorry that I'm belly-aching so much right now about all the yard work.

Rabbit, I didn't throw out the carton of ice cream. I think the reason I ended up scraping mine out was I didn't like the flavor, so I probably won't want any more of it. It just tasted too sweet for my taste buds now. I'm sure DH and the kids will end up eating it.

I'm heading my chigger-eaten arse back outside now to the jungle. LOL

Welcome newcomers!!!

Lily~so the mayor's son was arrested for a DUI and drug charges and therefore the chief of police is fired. Politics. Corruption. No wonder DH wouldn't want to work for the city!

I did really well on plan yesterday. Even dinner was less than 400 calories. But my scale was up a pound (and yes, I drank a lot of water yesterday). Today I was famished! 2 eggs just wasn't enough for breakfast so I also had oatmeal. Now only 3 hours later I'm having my berries for a snack.

Allison, EXACTLY, it is definitely politics and corruption. DH has urged me many times to run for City Council. I want no part of that stressful mess, it would drive me nuts. With the council that is already in place, 1 person would not be able to make a difference.

Hi maintainers,

I went to yoga & powerclass this morning, and I had made my goal of exercise for this week.

Hi everyone! Welcome to the new people!

Lily - Your town sounds pretty crazy! You must be getting lots of good exercise in the yard though. I'm impressed about the ice cream -- I never found a flavor I disliked enough to not eat.

Rabbit - good job meeting your exercise goal! I made it to the gym three times this week.

It's funny how you think losing weight will help with some things and then it doesn't. I always thought the reason they couldn't find my veins when I needed to have blood drawn was that there was too much fat on top of them. Now that I'm thin, they still can't find them! I feel sorry for my dad, he has the same issue with his veins, but he recently got diagnosed with a blood disorder, and the treatment for it is to have blood drawn (the amount they take for donations) once a month. Anyway this morning I had about 10 vials of blood taken for various tests. While I'm afraid they'll find something wrong with me, I'm also afraid that they will all come back normal and then I still won't know what's wrong.

In any case I'm so glad it's Friday! I am getting a much-needed haircut tomorrow. I have been eating very poorly this week so hopefully I can get it together this weekend. I blame TOM . . . it was supposed to start this morning (I'm very regular due to birth control) but hasn't yet and I'm just having cramps, which makes me grouchy and makes me want junk food!

I did some yard work today. We have a plant that needed alot of TLC. It took me almost a half hour to clean it up I am surprised it is still alive. We just moved here last summer and I did NO yard work last year and I am paying for it this year but nothing like lilybelle. lol

Hi ladies,

Today is bill paying day and grocery shopping. I'm gonna try to improve my eating. Exercise has certainly been plenty with all the yard work. My thighs are now sore from all the bending and digging.

DH wanted to dine out last night so I chose a grilled chicken sandwich without the mayo. so at least that wasn't such a poor choice. Plus had some cantaloupe.

Rabbit, WTG on the exercise.

Jessica,I hope all of your lab work comes out satisfactorily or you at least find out what is the problem. I used to hate having lab drawn, but now my veins are very prominent.

I ran out of my prednisone last night so I'm off to the pharmacy. I'm itching like crazy. Yuck. (I ordered it a week ago on-line and it hasn't came in yet so gotta get a few to last me til it gets here).

canadianmom, we are definitely "paying for it" with the yard work. It will look really nice when we're through. It is work that has been needing done for quite a while, but in the past my health was too bad to be able to help with it and DH works so much over-time that I didn't think he'd ever be able to get it done by himself. I'm glad now that I can help, but it is sure giving my body a beating.

Welcome new comers. I have finally got back on track this week and now am maintaining at 140.
I hate yard work I have a black thumb. Everything I plant dies. My mom is good at it and she tries to help but there is no use int it. I love the outdoors such as going to the beach, fishing, boat riding, but as far as talent goes, I will stick to the indoors.

Gosh, miss a day or two and there's so much to catch up on and so many to posters - welcome Terrie, Jen, Grand Canyon, and anyone else I missed.

Alison & Jessica - you're right, my big splurge on double stuffed Oreo's didn't effect my weight. I finally braved the scale today and am still well below goal. I even did my little 'skinny dance'.

Last night I passed the Safety Boating Course test with an A so I'm legal to opporate our sailboat under power in the state of NJ. We're the only state that has this requirement. DH needs to take it too, but with his new job in NYC, I'm not sure when he'll be able to schedule it.

Tonight's DH's niece's high school graduation party up in Central Jersey. I'll head up there late this afternoon after picking up a watermelon. It's going to be burgers and dogs and tons of my trigger foods - chips, mayo salads, etc. I'm going to eat well before I go to minimize splurging on the bad stuff.

Later, we'll convoy down to the beach. Our club's hosting our annual Hobie Cat regatta. I'll be sailing our little Hobie Wave to watch the races. DH will be crewing on a Hobie 18.

Carolyn~what is a Hobie Wave? My brother has a Hobie Cat, so I'm familiar with that. (I'm assuming a Hobie Wave is a little boat rather than a catamaran?) How long is it?

Having a green thumb.....not here! Well, I used to, but not here in the desert. I can grow a house plant with no trouble but as for growing something in the garden, well, I have no luck. In my old house in Utah, I had the most beautiful gardens! The previous homeowner had been a member of a garden club, and the flowers were magnificent! I didn't have to plant a thing and I had flowers from spring through fall. There were a few places to put tomato plants and I was able to get a few tomatoes, but that's all I tried. Here it is so different. I have friends who grow vegetables all the time, but all of my experiments failed so I rely on the farmer's market and grocery stores. And if it weren't for my gardeners taking care of the flowers and bushes, I'm afraid they'd all be dead!

Lily~I hope you get your meds so you can stop itching!

It's DS's last day of school and we're taking him and DD out to lunch. Prior to that, I've had a busy day at work paying bills and such. We had to go with a new payroll company and this was the first week of payroll. Of course there are major problems! They forgot to take out the 401k payments and garnishements and forgot to give us a check to pay the medical premiums. And to top it off, now we can't get ahold of our payroll specialist! We left a message over an hour ago. Yikes!

Allison, thanks. I got to the pharmacy and they gave me enough prednisone to tide me over for 5 days, so my mail order med's should be in by then. Had to do the same thing with my glucophage that I take for insulin resistance. I have noticed that if I run out of glucophage, I could eat only 1000 cal's a day and work out 6 times a week and still not lose an ounce. With my proper med's if I stick to 1400 cals daily and work out 4 times a week, I can usually at least drop 1 lb. I think this is the reason that before doing Atkins and not having Glucophage I could never lose wt. no matter how hard I tried..

I can definitely empathize with you on the 401K problems. DH changed his contribution a couple months ago. He is now contributing more than we can afford to save and can't seem to get it changed. Yes, saving is great, but not if it's more than what you need to pay the bills. I ended up withdrawing money from my old 401K this month just to make ends meet until we can get this changed. We also have calls into his payroll specialist to try to get this straightened out. Upping his contribution the month after we bought a boat wasn't too dang smart. I just wish he wouldn't even try to handle any type of financial matters as he doesn't know how. LOL.

Do any of you have squirrels? I have to plant my salady stuff again! That's three. My MIL suggested bloodmeal. Sounds awful but I think I'll try it. I soooo want my own greens!

Susan, at my mums house, we don't have squirrels but we do have SLUGS! They are horrible and eat salad stuff plus the heads of flowers in a bizarrely ordered pattern , like a map planning world domination or something. My mum refuses to kill them and has resorted to manually rehoming them (wearing gloves). I refuse to participate in this activity.
What you could do for squirrels is put out a feeder. Who knows, it might distract them if it's filled with things squirrels find yummy?

hi LWL,

Met my exercise week goal, so now all I have to do is a whole weekend of clean etas. Well, at least I managed grocery shopping early in the morning, so that I did not buy any trigger food.

Hi to everyone, I'm feeling a bit poor now, so I'll just go lie down a while. Blodd sugar too low i guess, I only ate a skimpy breakfast in my haste to get out of the house and grocery shopping done before fatigue & munchies got me later in the day.

Carolyn - this sailing a tiny Hobie in open water sounds SO courageous to me!

Have a great weekend everyone,

Rabbit
