Red face Tuna ??

Okay--now I am really confused.

My book (Gold) says a tuna portion is:
3 oz for in pouch, water packed
6 oz. canned, drained

DH's book (purple) says tuna is:
7 oz. for in pouch, water packed
6 oz. canned, drained

don't these seem inconsistent? I am HOPING there is an error!!

I have the red...it's the same as purple 7oz/6oz. Sounds like there is a typo in the book. (one would think anyway...)

I have noticed several things in the cookbook as well for example in the Greek Omlet there are 9 black olives chopped and that is a fat yet in the count there isnt a fat listed. You know LAWL has their own way of thinking sometimes.

I think that portion sizes decrease after you drop down from Purple, Boo's. I think your books are ok.

Boo:
You should ask your COD b/c I remember that in my book the LAWL pudding counts as afruit and a starch and the COD told me that it was a LA LITE, so they called LAWL Corporate and they told them that it was an error in the typing of the book that it does count as a La lite.

Hey Boo,Lori is right, the portions drop down from purple to gold or blue. Do you weigh your tuna? I wasn't, I was just going on a 6 oz can should be 6 oz. but really it's only 4 oz. after you drain it.

No--I only eat the pouch and they come in 3 oz and 7 oz. What confuses me isn't the lower portion from purple to gold--it's the huge difference on gold from pouch to can where on purple it's not huge and reversed. I think I will ask. I used to LIVE on tuna when I taught (those lunch kits) and realized today I haven't had any since december--it was sooooo good to me--forgot how much I like it! I did add a tiny bit of relish so now I am sucking down lemon water--but really--what's tuna without it??

We just had the tuna discussion a few weeks ago at my center. For some reason, of which they have no idea, the portion is 6oz drained on almost all programs-not a 6 oz can but 6oz of drained tuna. Three cans drained usually equals 12 oz so I make two portions at a time. I hope this helps. I also questioned some of the recipes in the cookbook and their conversions and my counselor said that LA just has their own way of calculating based on calorie count. That does't make much sense to me since I studied nutrition in culinary school, but I just think if it works just go with it!

I am going to ask today, too. They won't want to see me today as I have a list of questions and comments! I compared the pouch vs. the can and the pouch is actually better in some areas and the same in others. Just doesn't make sense--and I REALLY like things to make sense!

Here's the comparison: Hope you can understand it--it looks good til I submit!
TUNA
Pouch (in water) 2oz / (3oz) / Can (in water) 2oz. drained
Calories 60 /(90) / 60
Fat .5 /(1) / .5
Cholesterol 20 /(30) / 30
Sodium 210 /(310) / 250
Carb 0 /(0) / 0
Fiber <1 /(1)/
Sugar 0 /(0)/
Protein 12 /(19) / 13
