I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to share what I found out at COD today.

When I looked up 4" wheat pita on fitday, it spewed out the nutritional info for it (don't remember exactly what it said). I went and looked at my bag of Kkangaroo 6" whole wheat pitas and the nutritional info was nearly the same - the 6" ones were about 4 calories and 1 g carbo . So, I asked the little barbie doll at the COD about this, and wondered if I could have a whole 6" pita. She said that she thought it would be ok, but if I started to gain on it (I tend to get in a rut with my starches, and eat only pitas until the bag is gone) then I should cut 1" off the pita and that would be fine. HUH? Anyway, just thought I'd share that bit of pseudoscience with ya'all!

Well, you know, because if you cut off one side of the pita, all of the calories will fall out.

Not sure if this works with candy bars, but maybe I look into it, LOL

I use the Sara Lee wheat pitas and they are also 6 inch. I have never seen 4 inch ones. My COD said that I should be cutting off some off of the end also, which I'm not going to do, but I don't have the pitas that much. The ones I have are a little higher in calories etc.

Ohhhhhh - gotta read the fine print! I'll have to check that out, the next package I buy! Of course, if all the calories fall out when you cut it open (similar to that magical low fat oven I read about on here somewhere), then it shouldn't matter!

The package of white bread pitas I have in the freezer says a serving is a whole pita bread - the calories are ginormous though. I am out of whole wheat ones right now (and it's a darn good thing the others are in the freezer!) but I'll be checking it out, the next package I buy. On the positive side, it's good to know that I can lose on the extra starches, (because I WAS eating a whole one) if I need to. Hopefully same brand = same serving size, no matter what the flour type.
