how would you account for lasagna?
 
On Thursdays I have very little control over lunch and have to eat what's available. Today was lasagna. It was the traditional meat and cheese without much cheese (maybe 1/2 dairy). I was thinking 1/2P 1C and 1/2D for a pretty small piece. What do you think?

Peach - most lasagne also has some sort of ricotta/white sauce - so it's probably closer to a full dairy -- I believe a standard sheet is about 1 oz, so it's probably more than a standard starch (1/2 cup is 1 oz - and 1/3 c is 1 S) otherwise your 1/2 P is probably fine! Did you enjoy it? Do they at least serve a salad along with it?

I would add a fat to it too, just to be safe with it being prepared elsewhere I am sure they used soem olive oil. I would go with 1F, 1.5S (depending on how many layers) .5P, 1D

thanks for all your replies. I ended up going a little overboard tonight, eeeeekkkkk!!!! I won't say I blew it but it really wasn't that bad. I went to a co-workers going away party at a local sports bar. I did make MUCH better choices than I would have before so that's gotta count for something and I also drank 4 huge (20+ oz each) glasses of water (2 of them I squeezed lemons into) and NO soda. I had a salad with my burger (I also had a large salad portion with the lasagna for lunch). The holiday season is just so hard.

I do have to give myself a MAJOR pat on the back for not eating ANY of the candy, cookies, cake, doughnuts, or other goodies sitting around the clinic. It's been a whole week since I've eaten any of that stuff :carrot: :carrot:.

So for the next couple of days I'm going to be VERY good and really watch my portions and get in all my water (extra too!!!). I'm also going to find things I can bring for lunch on Thursdays. I'll have to be pretty darn creative as I don't have refridgeration where I go and standard ice packs don't keep long enough.

It's bedtime, I better go home and hit the sack.

You go girl! Avoiding temptation is marvelous!

About your lunches - can you heat up stuff? Or can you bring some sort of sandwich - using a small pita, or tortilla? Maybe even a small cooler of some sort, depending on your dedication, that you can keep in your car?

down here in indiana, the temp is ussually cold enough that i can go grocery shopping on lunch and still have cold food when i go home. so I would say a nice little insulated luch bag (about $5 at walmart) will be fine until early March in the car. And with the cold Minnesota winters probably until the end of March. plus salads are wonderful, they don't have to be cooled or warmed. i cook my chicken int he morning and just cut it up and put it in a baggie and it is still good by lunch.
