WI: -2.5
Pain: 0/3/7
Activity: 3
Credits: packing carefully , PT , calorie counting , anti-inflammatories (something I've been forgetting to give myself credit for)
Another set of forms arrived for my SSDI claim. The person in the local office forwarded it to a Disability Specialist, which I'm guessing is good news. I expect the local office screens out as many applicants as they can. It's going to be interesting, as I've got only 10 days now to return it (15 from the date of the letter). Much can be done while I'm looking after Mom, I think.
Robin: One binge does not a defeated diet make. Yes, you'll get there. for the rest of the day's OPness.
Google calendars were my favorite out of all the calendars I tried. Unfortunately, when I mentioned the "g" word, one of Mom's friends, who works at MS with Mom, flat out refused. The other, who can only access the Internet at work cannot load google, yahoo, or msn.
All the calendars at the caregiving-specific sites that I saw don't break up their calendar view into hourly portions, so you can't tell by looking at it what time one shift ends and the next begins. What's more, my shifts are usually going to be over a day long, but I couldn't enter anything longer than a day into them.
Anne: I hope you're feeling better soon and glad the crash wasn't serious. How did the accident happen? for getting back on track early rather than late.
See above regarding google calendar.
onebyone: for finding a new wagon and getting on it. I don't know much about the book, but I do like what I see in your posts.
Beth: for planning your dinner out with your sister, and for leveraging the numbers on the scale to motivate you.

day 2 - week 1 of 6 fats sweets and oils
Hi Coaches
today's WI: -2.6 phew.
yesterday's stats: Calories 1,762
Fat (g) 64.2
Carbs (g) 225.7
Prot (g) 74.1
Okay so I am going to report in my stats every day (credit for reporting this morning) because this means that I have recorded my food the day before. this is really important. I almost think it's more of a key than exactly what I am eating. Once I start moving more I'll report that too. (Credit for planning on moving more). I have been eating sitting down though (credit).
I am now in the final graduation prep week activities. I have several big things to do yet but nevertheless graduation will come! Get this: we have to remove all the furniture and easels and tables and stuff from the classroom we are graduating in on Monday. And then the day after graduation we have to show up to put the furniture back! Who heard of such a thing?? I expected it though. We are totally hands on. I am not saying I won't be under the weather. I know I will be.
Sorry no personals. I have to get to the school. I'll check in tonight. Have a great day Becksters.

Morning, All. I did pretty well out with my sister last night. I was rewarded on the scale this morning as it was down another .6 lbs. I'm at 228.4 this morning. Woo hoo. Credit me.
I have been walking on my lunch hour, (actually lunch 1/2 hour) the last couple of days. I've been getting in about 20 - 25 minutes. I figure, that's better than no exercise. Credit!
Not much else going on. I get my first paycheck this Friday, so that means I'll be buying my bike this weekend. I even have Saturday off so I can ride. That means I'll have a sore backside Saturday night!
Onebyone - Credit on being down 2.6 lbs. It looks like you have turned things around for yourself. That's great. I'm sure you'll feel better once you finish up school this week.
Tera - Kind of odd about the person not being able to use google at work. It sounds like you are really busy with the move as well. It will be nice when all this is done and you can catch your breath.
Anne - Give yourself credit for realizing you're off plan and doing something about it. That's major! It is so easy to let yourself keep sliding and ignoring it. Great job on catching yourself.
ChinaMaine - I'm glad you're feeling better and your weight keeps falling. Great work.
You're right about the scale going up after even an on plan dinner out. That has happened to me too many times. I was lucky today!
Have a great day, everyone.
Beth

just a quick hello!
Ive been getting posting done on my blog! Yah!
Still not op all the way, I think its going to take some serious food planning, and plan sticking!
Anyone else notice when you are trying to curb the sugar intake you eat other things that will give you the same effect without actually eating a whole cake? For me right now its potatoes. I know its weird, but I can fill up on potatoes with lots of butter and seasonings, and I get the same feeling. *sigh* This is where the serious food planning, and serious plan sticking comes in.
Tera~ I hope you get some sort of calendar figured out!
Have a great day everyone!

I'm just posting to check out my new signature. I will say, I took my dad to McDonalds today and didn't eat anything as it wasn't on my plan. I sat there with my stomach growling, but waited until I got back to my office to eat the lunch I had brought. Major credit!
Until later,
Beth

Wednesday Hump Day
WI-up 0.5 lbs. Read my cards and made a plan. Food – op, Exercise – op. Fatigue 4.3 (1=Felt Great, 5=Extreme Fatigue). I felt really lousy today. This AM, I got my TOM for the 4th time in less than 2 months. I graphed my fatigue ratings since April; my fatigue level has jumped a great deal for the last month or so. I’ve called my endocrinologist to see if there’s any other tests I should have done. Hopefully I’ll hear back tomorrow. This morning DH and I heard the loons singing, and harmonizing !! Later this afternoon we saw a Loon Mommy and baby floating out in front of our house. Loon babies ride around on their Mommy’s backs. It is so adorable! Then Daddy came swimming up to check on Mom and baby. (awwwww…) He gave Mom a quick beak-rub of support and said ‘hi’ to baby. Then he floated away to let Mom and baby enjoy the sun in peace. After a few minutes the baby climbed off Mom’s back for a swim. After splashing around for abit, baby climbed back up on her back. They’ve been out there for hours now, floating around, making happy Loon noises. I LOVE this time of year! Anne Credit for recognizing the signs, and for making a plan to get yourself back on plan.
Tera for 2.5 lbs down and for the promising news on SSDI.
one by one for 2.6 lbs down and for tracking your food metrics here. for being on the final glide path for school!
Beth for being op when out to dinner. And I’m glad you didn’t get retribution from the water retention gods – another .6 lbs down!
Robin for blogging and being op! Kudos for using planning (and sticking to it) to keep you from eating too many taters with butter. I’m Irish, so potatoes IS what I crave, not sugar.

Coaches/Buddies Today went according to plan. Tomorrow is planning again, which means tonight is planning again. I can do this.
Tera Glad to see your purple people again. I just skidded on some gravel.
onebyone Way to stay on plan! Good to hear graduation approaches.
Beth Happy to hear about your impending sore backside. It'll be good to talk bikes.
Robin Glad you are figuring out your sugar issues. I don't appear to be sugar sensitive myself and am very grateful for that.
ChinaMaine Sorry to hear about your fatigue levels. I think it is good that you are getting it checked out.
DaimereHoping you don't have to resort to post-it 'ing your food!
See you all tomorrow.
Anne

Hi, to all.
Don't know about the rest of you, but I suspect as I am, you are missing Mr. Bill.
I read Anne's posts about exercising so faithfully and intensely and think if I could do that, I would have no weight issues at all. And then I read of your struggles, Anne, with such a hectic schedule how tough it is staying OP with food.
If I exercised half as much as you do, and you had my (right now, at least) complete ambivalence about food, we would both be Twiggy. (You are prolly too young to remember her!) I am just being so stubborn about only doing exercise that accomplishes work. The work needs to be done, and I am rewarded with gardens looking the way I want them to, but it is not aerobic work and weight bearing only sporadically.
None of the personal/family or even work issues with which I am struggling (and to be fair, my work always has a lot of- shall we say- "variables" in it) are anything I can control at all. I just have to let it all play out and suck every bit of joy out of summer in this glorious, beautiful, remote part of the world that I can.
Chinamaine, credit for taking the time to watch and report on the loon behavior. They were positively boisterous last night, but not sure what the ruckus was all about. I love the different calls. So varied and beautiful.
Want to drill on the control issue a bit. Credit, Beth, for being hungry at McCrud's and not eating. As little as I find that I would eat there, to be genuinely hungry and sit through it, well, that is sooooooo Beckian.
I just have to go back to the truth here that Beck gives us all the tools. It is our choice to use them. For whatever reason right now, I just really want it. I really want these last 10#s off, to get under my goal and have my goal weight as my red l line. I really want it. There is so much other mucked up stuff in my life right now, it is the one thing I can do for myself. It is the only thing I can control, and I am, if nothing else, a CONTROL FREAK! It's workin' for me at the moment.
Take control, all!

Good Morning
Yesterday didn't go as planned. But today is a new day!
DIL ended up in the hospital last night. Not the one that just had the baby, the other. She called this morning, all doped up on pain meds...but hopefully they will let her out today. We'll see. She has both the bleeding and clotting disorder which wreaks havoc on her. We have the grandkids until she gets out...SIL is away for work. Stuff always happens when he goes away
Hubby is trying valiantly to salvage his pc. Its not working very well...he's going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new one. Which is no longer an easy situation. With the new computers now, some equipment will not run with Vista, or the bigger (something or other) is too big and will not run equipment properly. Its actually looking like we will have to have one specially built to accomodate us. Its not like we have dinosaur equipment...its just that the pc's are upgrading to fast and not taking into account the millions of dollars out there in equipment that is run from them
Good for the pc builder I suppose. It just makes me nervous buying from some guy building pc's in his basement. kwim? Im sure it will be fine...I just need to think positive!!!!!!!!!
food and exercise are off (but op as of 10:14am this morning) If I can keep up the momentum Im golden!
Have a great day everyone!

WI: none (scale got packed)
Pain: 0/3/6
Activity: 3
Credits: Walking down to the FAR pool go to , calorie counting , PT , icepacks , resting before pain got out of control , anti-inflammatories
I went to the pool first thing yesterday morning, knowing it would be my only chance to enjoy the swim away from crowds. On the way home, the mallards saw me and decided to follow me home for breakfast.
I get to spend the day at Mom's. Going to use this time for filling out SSDI forms and laundry. That way all the clothes we move into the new apartment (besides what we're wearing at the time) will be clean. Have I mentioned yet that all of the appliances in the new apartment are new? And the a/c too?
onebyone: I do find it strange that your college is using a classroom to conduct the graduation ceremony. Hope the work goes quickly.
:woohooo: for a reduction in scale number (isn't the first week of dieting fun?); excellent idea keeping your reports here to motivate you. I know it helps me.
Beth: for sticking to your dinner plans and for your attitude toward exercise. You are absolutely right that some is better than none! for eating absolutely nothing at McD's! That's impressive!
Robin: for being aware of your sugar substitutions and acknowledging the need for a a plan. Yikes for your computers! for your DIL.
 for staying OP today.
ChinaMaine: Ouch for the fatigue levels and monthly visitors coming more than once a month! for staying OP during health issues, which I know can reduce motivation. that your doctor has a major brainwave soon.
I just love the word-picture of those loons!
Daimere: Regarding post-its on my food... hey, whatever works! One thing you might want to do is reflect (when it's not mealtime) on why you're rushing through your food... what is distracting you? are you stressed about something? Once you're conscious of the causes you can address them.
Maryblu: Wonderful post, and it really gets to the heart of why I stay on track and why I feel so miserable when I don't. Feeling out of control over my weight and health depresses me, and on days when it seems the rest of my world is falling apart, I can point to my FitDay and say, "There! See? I can do something about at least this!"

Thursday
WI-up 0.5 lbs. Read my cards and made a plan. Food – op, Exercise – op. Fatigue 4.0 (1=Felt Great, 5=Extreme Fatigue). I have an appt to see a doc about my fatigue on Monday. After some research, I think the sudden increase in fatigue over the last month is due to menopause. So I hope there’s an alternative to HRT. The loon family was in the cove all day. -- it's probably the quietest water in the south end of the lake, so it's no wonder the loons are 'bringing up baby' here. They were out early this AM; Baby spent most of the morning swimming on his own. Mom and Dad would dive for food and feed Baby when they came up. At lunch time, Baby climbed on Mom's back for a well-deserved nap. Damiere at post-its on food. If it works, do it!
Anne Keep it up! Planning is the crux of it I think, everything else is simply implementation.
one by one for getting rid of that water!! And glad you are back under 270. Credit for keeping track of your eating.
maryblu Yes I too miss Mr Blue Eyes. I find a lack of control to be so hard to take – credit for your positive, pragmatic attitude. And if the silver lining is wanting to do the Beck-work, well It’ll give you a well-deserved feeling of control and make you healthier to boot!
Could your loons be birthing too? You seem to be further north, but maybe birthing happens the same time everywhere…
Robin Hope your DIL is feeling better soon! Sorry about the pc’s. Can you just pay extra to install a different OS? Or perhaps the problem isn’t with Vista exactly, but something else that’s ‘new and improved’. My DH just got a laptop with Vista and he complains constantly about how unforgiving Vista is with any old peripherals. And, like us, our peripherals are ALL old.
Hope you are happily on plan today!
Tera Glad to see your pain is down a smidgen. Credit for getting up early and going FAR to swim today! Great idea to wash all your clothes before you move. I hate unpacking anything dirty in a new place. So silly since it’s all bound to get dirty eventually…

I don't really know. I've always done it. I know I can slow it down if I remember to. I did at Golden Corral a few weeks ago. Although the last two days I have slowed down my breakfast cause I actually remember at that point. I ate slowly at lunch due to my very hot hot stew. My tongue is still burnt! I did actually purposely slow my eating at dinner. No post its needed! Two out of three is pretty good since it's only the second day of trying to slow my eating. I've done pretty well sitting and eating. There was only one time I didn't. Tomorrow I work overtime again. I like the extra money but sometimes it's tiring.
All day today I've been listening to health/fitness/weight loss/nutrition podcasts on my MP3 player. I wish I could find more, especially with all these 10 hour days!
Now, to go read Beck!

TGI(rainy)F Day 4 week 1 of 6 fats oils and sweets
Good morning Coaches:
Here are my stats: today's WI= +1.0
yesterday's stats: Calories 3,003
Fat (g) 123
Carbs (g) 366
Prot (g) 157
Sodium(mg) 5198
I switched my nutrition tracking to dailyplate.com from fitday.com. Dailyplate gives me the sodium count without asking so I am going to report it. I think I need to try to bring the sodium numbers down but for now the plan of action on sodium is to become more aware of it; to connect it up with the rest of my food and with my water weight gain.
Dailyplate also tells me that my target calories to lsoe 2lbs a week is 2405 Myself, I would never say a target calorie count is 2400 anything. I'd be aiming for 1/2 that: 1200. I think this may be a clue as to why my weight is here and I want it to be there. So, given this, I am only over 600 calories for the day and the previous two days I was under so I'm doing great!
In terms of cutting back this weeks focus foods, I did have 2% milk in my coffee today once. credit. I had the half and half the other time. I did plan ahead credit but when I came home I was ravenous and I couldn't feel full no matter what I did. I did write about it credit and this insatiable feeling came on the tail of feeling immense relief to have completed an unofficial printmaking course yesterday and to realizing I had some off time. I was both tense ( worried why I had time off what am I forgetting?) and thrilled because I haven't had free time in a while. But I just ate and could not get full. I tracked it and I ate early and stopped early, but it was disconcerting. And then DH came up from the basement where he works all day and says "want this for dinner?" and it was breaded chicken wings and I said YES all the while knowing the fat content on those things is enormous but I wanted them. I know enough from the Thin for Life book that one meal does not a wrecked foodplan or week make. I also know this from Beck (can I have a collective Oh Well here?), but I don't think I really believed this. I am choosing to believe it today. I refuse the chain of negative thoughts that deviating from a plan would trigger. Not this time. I am going forward. So long as I am fulfilling my weekly goals I am on plan.
Daimere Hi! What came to my mind about eating fast was how good I am at it, I really am, and what has worked to slow me down is to force me to put my fork down and stop. Or to put the sandwich down, whatever I am eating to physically just put the thing down. Also to stop for a drink of water, or whatever you have, again all to just break the fixation with getting the food in as fast as I can. I understand about long work days and feeling tired. I hope you get a nice break soon.
ChinaMaine Sorry to see your fatigue number so high. I know you are taking care of yourself and I give you a credit for that! I had no idea a baby loon would ride on their mom's back and snooze!!!! Thanks so much for that visual. Don't you think that'd be such a great ride?
twilit tera Big Credit for getting your exercise in when you can in your unsettled circumstances. Sounds like a great place you're moving into. Yay! And yeah, graduating in a classroom is weird but there are only 8 graduates in total and our work is at the school, all over the main floor in two galleries and the showcase windows down the hall, so doing it somewhere else would be strange-people would have to traipse over to see the work then. Less than a week to the big event...
RobinW I know lots of pc builders and I would trust them...of course I know them know them so I already trust them! Maybe you can get that Vista off the computer? I've read many people have dropped down to XP (or whatever their previous OP was) to keep their PC's working. Maybe the pcbuilder can install it for you? Sorry to hear about your SIL. I hope she's better. Credit to you for getting back on track.
maryblu I too feel like I just want this really bad right now, so I relate to you wanting to get those pounds OFF!. Beck does give us all the tools for every occasion. I am finding that my new best book, Thin for Life, is totally echoing Beck. The two are like hand in glove... and reading it is renewing my faith and desire to really use Beck once more. Happy gardening. Hope you get some good sunny plant growing weather today.
Greenville Beth Congrats on continuing to be below 230! And I'd say a 20-25 min lunchtime walk is great! Lots and lots of people do less... credit for making the time/finding the time in your busy schedule for moving. That's solid Beck thinking
wndranne Credit for the planning. It's really a fantastic thing to do isn't it?
Everyone have a great Friday.
