Okay, I went to WI today and I had went up a little. My counselor today decided that I had hit a plateau. UGH, you think I have been loosing and gaining the same 2 to 3 lbs for almost a month. I was wondering if ya'll thought I should try the plateau breaker or a TO. My counselor asked me when I was coming back in and I told her Monday and she said that she was going to suggest eating some beef tonight. But, then she decided to not tell me that. They keep telling me to watch out for the beef and vension when I eat it. I have been eating chicken and Tilapia and tuna fish. I drink about 80 to 96 oz of water a day. I have cut my water down because they told me that could be causing my weight gain a couple weeks ago. However, now I stay hungry all the time. I am not discouraged over the gain. I would just like to quit loosing the same weight over and over again. My counselor suggested exercising some and that I could try the curb (or curve) 420 to boost my metabolism. No, thanks I don't have $90 to put into metabolism increasing pills. I am going to try the exercising. However, I did remind her that I tried that a couple weeks ago and gained 4 lbs.
Also, I told her that I stay hungry. I asked her if maybe I needed to go back to the purple plan because this started when I switched plans. She just looked at me. Any suggestions would be great.
Dionne, I would try eating just a tiny bit more (like doing all the the things that they said to avoid but are still on plan) for a few days and see if that gets you moving again. It could be that you are eating a bit too little. Are you feeling cold as well as hungry? Since I found that when my metabolism slowed down to match my cut in calories I was hungry and cold and kind of dragging. I actually took my temperature and it was 96.8 instead of the expected 98.6. So you can imagine how many fewer calories you will burn if your body has literally turned down the termostat. They already gave you all those pointers on eating less and lighter and that didn't help you. So try going just a bit higher on plan, but still stick with the portions. Eat some beef. Have something that is 100 calories for a starch! OK not quiite living it up, but perhaps your body needs a small change to get you moving again.
Heck try it for the weekend, and see where you are after a few days. You are not going to gain great amounts of weight just trying to go on the higher side of the plan instead of sticking to the lowest possible calorie amounts. I find that on BLUE if I go too light I start feeling the starving, but if I ease up on being so strict *but I still have to really still do the portion control and follow the plan* then I do better.. so I think it is likely the difference between maybe 1500 calories and 1650, but I will lose on 1650 and stall on 1500...
I talked to a independent dietician my company has available for all their employees. She said when you hit a plateau, you need to increase your intake by 200-300 calories per day for 2 to 3 days. Your metabolism slows down to accomodate the amount of food you are eating. Don't get scared if the scale goes up alittle, it should drop when you back on plan.
I've ready serveral books that suggest the same thing. Eating exactly on plan is not the best if you hit plateaus. And eating less defeats it. Eating less will slow your metabolism even more.
I would think it also couldn't hurt to add in a little exercise to boost your metabolism. Since I have hypothyroidism, I find that I absolutely need the boost from exercise. Plus, exercising just makes me feel better and more energetic all the way around. A little cardio could do wonders for you.
