Question how much is too much exercise?

  • I am frustrated because I have been working out 6 days a week but making sure that I don't do over 5 hours of cardio. I do 45 minutes of cardio 5 days a week and wts three days a week.
I went to my COD Tue and they told me not to do over three hours of cardio. That doesn't make sense to me and I really like working out. I don't want to move to red I am on gold but they said if I continue they would move me to red. I thought it was 5 hours now hey are saying 3 hours what the heck?
  • I'm taking a guess, that you're dealign with what I like to refer to as the idiot counselor. There was one at my COD that actually told me I wasn't losing weight because I was exercising.

But truth be told, if you're doing 45 of cardio 6 days a week plus the weight training you're going to be over 5 hours. Take the jump and move up to Red, how I did it with WL was if I had a light work-out day I cut out a starch. Yes, the scale barely budged, but I was dropping 3-4 inches a month without a problem, so to me the muscle gain was worth not dropping pounds on the scale.
  • KelKel,
I got moved to BLUE for exercise and not red, from gold. Blue is just one more starch and half a protein, and the protein is the same portions.
Actually eating more can spur on your weight loss as you can stall by not eating enough.

I also have been told to stop exercising.. stupid counselors.
  • Thanks for the replies It is so upseting first I was told not to worry about the weights just make sure the cardio doesn't go over 5 hours now they are saying make sure the cardio doesn't go over 3 hours. Why the conflicting info is what I was wondering. They said they were afraid to move me to red in case I don't stay consistent. I am thinking that I will just go to blue on my own and exercise how I was? Then if I have an off week where I don't do as much exercise I will do gold? How confusing
  • KelKel-unfortunately we have all dealt with some pretty mindless counselors. try to see if you can talk with someone else. I've noticed that a couple of my counselors get wierd about exercise bc it does initially slow weight loss bc of the muscle you build. That just reveals that they are not thinking of your best interst. Obviously it is in your best interest to stay active...we ALL know that! Make sure that you are on the best plan for your body. You have paid for their help and advice, you have not paid to lie to them or create your own plan! I hope you find somene with a brain around there! I know there's literally only one at my COD who knows what she's talking about...good luck!
  • Thanks Amy. I talked to the manager and she said the same thing. Go figure. I agree I paid them so I shouldn't go off on my own and change things. I will just keep exercising and if I am not seeing results I will contact the on-line dietician. I have the on-line membership thing so I will just go directly to the dieticians if necessary.
    Thanks again.
