Default Oatmeal Question

If you are making plain, cooked oatmeal and you measure out ½ cup dry oatmeal to use with the water, how is it counted?

I would count 1/2 cup DRY oatmeal as 2 Starches.

I would too since oatmeal doubles in size when it cooks and the serving size is 1/2 cup cooked. I think it is a tricky starch question and that is why I posed it.
Thanks for responding.

According to fitday, 1/2 c dry oatmeal is 145 calories, so I would agree, 2 starches.

when i measure out plain oatmeal, i measure out 1/4 cup oatmeal and 1/2 cup water. the way i figured it out was the instant packages call for 1 cup water (i think) and i think they are about 1/2 cup dry oatmeal.

good question, lynn!

Incidentally, what I forgot to mention and it is important is that when you look at the box of Quaker oatmeal, the suggested serving size is 1/2 cup dry.
