Carb Addict Diet - your take?

For those of you unfamiliar with the diet, here's a brief look at it.
"There are no scheduled foods or meal times, just a pattern to follow for each meal:
Three meals a day, two of which include protein, veggies and no carbs; the other is your reward meal and you'll enjoy a salad, equal parts protein, veggies and a carb like potatoes, dessert or bread. You have to eat your reward meal in 60 minutes.

The high calorie and protein intake has raised red flags for some, as has the option to eat the foods that feed your addiction. "

I was just wondering. If this diet works so well (it's gotten decent reviews on several websites including Amazon), then why aren't more people doing this instead of the Atkins diet or the SBD? It just seems like an easier version of those two. What do you think?

And for those familiar with the diet. What are some of the allowed foods? What veggies are and aren't forbidden?

I appreciate everyone's insights!

I tried it, and I'm too much of a compuslive eater for it to be successful. Calories in/calories out will always be a large part of any diet, and even under the reward meal rules, I (and I'm sure many others) can eat far too many calories to lose weight (in 25, let alone 60 minutes).

I like the philosophy and have used this eating style in the recent past: starting each meal with 2 cups of salad, having 2 meat/veggie meals and then a third meal with equal parts meat, green vegetable and a starch. It helped me to keep from going nuts on carbs. I too have to stick to calories in/out so I'll always be a calorie counter, no matter what my eating style, but this was easier to follow than Atkins and less easy-to-overdo than South Beach.

The Hellers have a website called carbohydrateaddicts.com and you can find their FAQ there which outlines the vegetables that are considered "crave reducing". Basically they're green.

Hope this helps.
