I love to play the board game Scrabble and cannot find anyone to play with me, so I went to meetup.com and found a local group that plays a couple times a month at a coffee shop just about 10 miles from my house. I'm going to go "play" next Tuesday night. The group claims to be totally for fun...and even says if you are cut throat serious, you won't fit in...so I should be fine. But I thought I should play a little and I was going to look online but when I google scrabble online games I get a million choices.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a good site for online games? I'm willing to pay a small amount if that will prevent me from getting a bunch of ads and spam....
Joni -- You can play scrabble at games.com (free) but personally I prefer to play Literati on yahoo games (also free) and on both sites there are always others there waiting to play. I looooove scrabble too, so you might find me on yahoo sometime!
Joni -- Literati is about 95% like scrabble, the only difference is where the bonus tiles fall on the board, and a slight rule difference on how you can place words. Oh, and I dont' think there are always 2 C's or 1 Q or whatever...you might find 4 Q's in one round!
I am a geek......and a geek lover!!!! LOL. (DH is an engineer........although he is awfully good looking for a geek man )
P.S. I never knew I was a geek until a few years ago. Apparently, someone who thinks and uses their brain is a geek, and I didn't know. My lovely cousin filled me in.......and I grabbed the title with pirde LOL
I really enjoy Pogo. It's free for most games. You can subscribe and get access to more games if you want. They have free trials (1hr.) of search and find games that are so fun! Try Dream Day Wedding. It's addictive!!
I am not sure that this is so far off topic. I played on Pogo for years, but subscribed when I got serious about LA. It's helped tremendously to take my mind off of food...especially TO days!!!
My dad is a competitive Scrabble player (nationally ranked, etc.) and you would not believe the lovable yet geeky people I have met. Go for it! Let out your inner geek!
I missed the first live scrabble date due to some unexpected stuff with Charlie at the Vet Hospital last week. But I'm signed up for the next one which is August 29. And I bought a Scabble game that I have been playing online. I always win, but so far I have just played the beginner and intermediate computer opponent. I need to challenge myself with the better computer player, but I really like winning :-)
