Snow Peas ??

  • I just started LAWL today and am suppose to eat green veggies and protein - does anyone know if Snow Peas would be considered a green veggie??

    Thanks!!
  • Well, sugar snap peas are a veggie, so as long as you're eating the entire snow pea, pod and all, it should count as a veggie, too.
  • Thats kinda what I thought too - I just did not want to jeopordize anything!

    Thanks!!
  • I had snow peas for dinner both days of my initial FF. Sauteed snow peas and zucchini, actually. Lost 5 1/2 lbs.

    Welcome!
  • I have some peas growing in my garden....and they are just about ready......so i guess i better learn to like them, huh?
  • Mmm, Cassi, that sounds good. I think I'll pick up some of both on my next grocery trip! I'm getting tired of the same old veggies lately!
  • Thanks everyone - I am just trying to get through these first two days - it has been hard finding green veggies that I like! Hopefully this gets better after tomorrow - I am ready for my carbs!
  • One thing that I did during the initial two days, and something that I continue to do is to periodically go through the food lists and pick out things that I like but haven't had in awhile, or want to try.

When I did the initial FF I bought 1lb of steamed shrimp and ate 4oz twice a day for the two days. I just squeezed a lemon wedge over it. Then I cut up zucchini, celery and cucumbers and kept all of those things handy for snacking. Then since I was allowed to have unlimited protein and cook w/fat, I sauteed the veggies in butter at dinner, and had good salad dressing with lunch. The fat indulgence added a lot of flavor and it didn't seem like as much of a sacrifice.

Now I still go through the food lists, even though I know them by heart, to find a new veggie to try. I just bought a bunch of fresh green beans and a few weeks ago it was fresh asparagus. You can roast it in the oven at 450 w/a spray of Pam and a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper, sea salt (or use Morton's if Dan is watching) and garlic powder. I think the garlic powder works better than fresh garlic in this case because you don't have little pieces burning. Anyhoo, you'd be surprised at how yummy it can be!
  • I do love asparagus, though I usually steam it. Same with fresh broccoli. Mmmm.... I've not had much luck with shrimp at my house...even with the yummy recipes that work well for fish, for some reason. So I'll get shrimp when I'm out and stick with tilapia when I'm at home. Better than nothing!
  • aahhhh love your puggie! I have three of them 2 fawn and a blackie!
