Question Ok can you folks give me a general list of spices

The spices that we use typically had salt etc in them.
So now i need to start from scratch so to speak

alot of these recipes call for things we never have here like soy sauce and many others.

Is there a basicl rule of thumb what I should have in the cabinet now to make these things not so boring??

The cook book is not in at our COD yet so I would love to get a head start and get some common ingredients they call for. Guess I am to used to putting what I want and eatting it.

thanks much

hey steph!
i love mrs. dash. i have pretty much every single flavor they make. those have so much variety. but i'm also addicted to black pepper, so i always have that! and red hot pepper flakes and cayenne pepper.

sorry if that wasn't much help, but mrs. dash is amazing!

For spices, I use a lot of Cavender's Salt Free Greek Seasoning and lots of different chile powders (the salt free kind)

I also grind my own for several things, epecially when I'm making sauces... As long as you keep the sodium content down, the possibilities are endless!!

i love spices.. i have more than you could shake a stick at. lol oregano is great on chicken .. or a cucumber and tomato salad. cumin too. basil and thyme add great flavors to foods as well. if you are feeling a bit overwhelmed as to use what spice with what food.. often on the label of the jar of spice they list what foods it would be good on... happy experimenting. when in doubt.. mrs dash is great!! i use that a lot too
