Oatmeal - 1/2 cup uncooked or 1/2 cup cooked?

Yet another silly question, but is the serving size for oatmeal (1/2 C) for raw oatmeal or for cooked oatmeal?
The packaged "singles" contain 1/2 C of uncooked oatmeal. After you cook them, however, they balloon up to about a cup.

From my purple book: Oatmeal, plain, prepared with water, cooked 1/2c.
I know - you can't use the singles. Remember, when it comes to starches, it's never the answer you want!

Oh how so true that is Cassi. I always feel like all the foods I want to cook have a starch serving and I don't have enough to accomodate them.

Well, whoops is all I can say, I guess. I had a single packet this morning with blueberries, so I guess that means I'm off on my starches for the day.

I say count it as one starch and then move on. Just count it differently next time. No sense in messing up the rest of your menu for the day.

I guess the best thing to do would be to cook up a small batch and then pack it in 1/2 containers.
Thank you, Cassie.
(No wonder I felt so "comfortably" full.
