Reasonable Weight Loss

  • What would you consider to be reasonable weightloss from WI to WI?

I've been on the blue plan (w/lites) for the first four weeks. Even though my weight would fluctuate from WI to WI (.5-1 pd or so), generally, the trend was downward.

Starting last Sunday, I was placed on the gold plan (w/lites). On Tuesday, I was down a pound, but then on Thursday, I was up 2-1/2 pounds. The counselor told me to wait to Saturday for my next WI to see if it stays or goes back down.

I've been on POP the entire time ... no cheating (it hasn't been easy, believe me).

    Signed, a little frustrated?
  • Honestly the best thing to do is to only look at the scale once a week. I have had many times of being POP over a weekend to be up on a Monday, down a bit or the same on a Wed and then down on the Friday. Your body will change daily and you can show gains not related at all to food. See the article below for some help that one of our gurus on the board posted..

The program aims for 2 lbs or so a week, some lose more and some a little less. Give it some time and try not to fixate on the scale numbers too much. You will find when they do your measurements you may have a very surprising loss there too.
    Stay positive!
  • And stay consistant.. Make sure you're wearing exactly the same thing, or at least as close as possible.. I always bring or wear light shorts and a t shirt. A sweater or pair of jeans can easily add two pounds to your WI.. Be sure you go WI at the same time as well.. I only go before breakfast so my body is empty.. Even if you can't go before you start eating for the day, try to go at a consistant time...

Also, don't forget about water retention.. For my wife, it's a killer.. Plus, your body is getting used to a different level of food intake, so it could be a reaction to that as well..

Don't forget.. What you eat today won't officially show up (or not) on the scale usually for a couple of days..
  • I know how you feel, I was on the purple plan when I started and I lost a total of 2 lbs in 4 weeks... whoopie! The I was put on the gold plan (both plans w/lites) so, it has really only been in the past 2 weeks that I lost any real weight. It is so frustrating! But you gotta just stay with it and you'll see results. Keep working hard, and good luck!
  • Also if you're exercising Jenni, muscle weighs double what fat weighs. I've been hodling steady at 156-158 for the last 9 weeks, but I dropped 7 1/2 inches in the same time! Just as long as you're staying POP and have more energy, the weight and/or inches will come off!
  • that is just great

Have you tried that in -35 Celcius temperatures?

Dan made a great point, I weigh in 2 paris of khakis that weigh the same (yes I weighed them! ) and a plain T-shirt, might as well keep the clothing consistent!
  • I have two pairs of weigh-in pants, and I make sure to wear a t-shirt on WI days. On Saturdays my COD is only open from 8-1, so my weight is lower than on Mon & Wed evenings when I do my others. I try not to stress too much unless I don't see movement from one Saturday to the next.
  • I weigh in the same pair of shorts and tank top every single time I weigh. Just jerk those sweat pants off and I'm ready to go LOL They know by now to expect those clothes when i come in. I see women come in to weigh in a sweater and jeans and I'm thinking, sheesh people you're wearing 5 pounds of clothes. At least I know when I weigh that its not different clothes making me gain or lose.
Kristen, maybe next week we can do the 50 pound happy dance together!
  • Great advice from all ... thank you very much!

Kristen: The article you included in your post was great I didn't know anything about glycogen, nor its effects.

I try to wear the same type of clothing for each WI. For two WI days, I am able to get in early in the day; the third (Thursday) is after work, so I know Thursdays will be different.

After WI this morning, the scale didn't move, so they decided to put me back on the blue plan (w/lites) for now (I have a strange work schedule: 2 nights, 3 days, and then lots of running in between).

    Thank you for the encouragement.
  • Hang in there Aleta.. it will pay off. It's not the fastest or easiest route but from someone who has done many plans it is one that works at a safe pace and that means your chances of keeping it off will be much greater. Sounds like you are in a good frame of mind so stay positive and make sure you tell your COD any problems or concerns you have.. you paid for the program and it is their job to help you be sucessful!

Congrats on the 11 you have lost already!
  • Boy do I feel like a putz...I go to WI in jeans, usually a t-shirt, and I keep my "vans" on (you know the shoes with the 2 lb rubber soles ) Maybe that explains the 3.4lb loss when I wore 2oz moccasins and lightweight pants!
  • That could do it. My counselor told me today that they have a client that not only will take off her pants, but also her top if she doesn't get the results she expects. But, she's lost over 100 lbs. so I guess that it helps her motivation or something.

All I can say is I can't see me doing that! With my luck, the fire alarm would go off or something.
