Default Hi to all

Hi, I'm Julie and I'm new.

What's funny about my weight gain is that I tend to eat the right things. I love vegetables and don't have much of a sweet tooth. But I was still eating too much for too long.

Now that I've started tracking everything I eat, I recognize how dumb I was being, and the weight is coming off. By tracking, I'm changing how I look at food, seeing it more as a list of requirements than a morale booster, if that makes sense.

I started on 10/11 and have lost 6 pounds. I'm pleased with that rate since I feel like I'm making small but sustainable changes. I have cravings every once in a while and if they last longer than a day, I go ahead and have whatever it was I was craving. And then the craving is gone and I can move ahead. That makes me feel very in control, not like I'm punishing myself or depriving myself.

And that's pretty much all I have to say yet!

Hi and welcome!
And thanks! We all need a reminder about the importance of tracking.

Thanks for the welcome, Susan.

It's good to know that the tracking means I'm doing something right!

I track everything ... weight loss -wise. I can't tell ya the last time I cleaned the tub or phoned my Mother but I know how many minutes I walked last week.

Some folks think it's obsessive but I remember a quote .... What some folks see as dedication, other feel is obsession.

And ... if you're going to go a little overboard about something, it might as well be your health, right?

Susan, I agree! It's a good thing to be dedicated to our health. Do you weigh your food? I do because I am so terrible at guessing how much I have. I always go to my husband and ask "Will this fit in this?" and show him a can and a pan. Estimating isn't my strong suit!

Hi, Mona. We're new together.

I use measuring cups and spoons. I can't estimate either. You should see what my version of a tbsp of peanutbutter used to be!

I bought some little glass bowls at a yardsale that hold exactly 1/2 cup ... a blessing!
