Default Hello

Hi there,

I'm new to this site, obviously. I just had my third child in September - a little girl following two older brothers.

I am a new SAHM. I ended my pregnancy by losing all my weight almost immediately. The problem is that since staying at home I've gained about 14 pounds. I compulsively overeat (on sweets of course) every afternoon, today I started as early as morning, probably because I was trying a new diet, which I obviously just blew.

I'm nursing and feel so dang hungry so if I'm not eating due to stress I eat due to hunger when I'm trying to follow a plan. How on earth do I manage this? All diet books and info. don't address the nursing mom.

Is anyone in this situation? Please help, I swear I'm not a complainer, just need some support in this area.

Thanks!
Angie

Hi Angie and welcome!
My name is Melissa and I'm a SAHM of 3 girls.
You might want to check out the section under "Dieting with Obstacles", the is a section for dieting wihile nursing.
Hope you find this site as much of a help and a blessing as I have!

Hey Angie and

I was in the same boat as you. I had a baby 4 months ago. When I had the sweet cravings I would snack on shaved ice with a little fruit punch on top. It works great for the cravings and is easy on the thighs! Maybe you will find this snack as satisfying as I did! Good Luck!

One thing that helped me when I was nursing was everytime I nursed, i would drink a glass of water. I found I was thirsty, not really hungry. Maybe use a water bottle so it is always handy?

The other thing I did was walk around the block in the afternoon when my husband got home just to get out of the house. I felt kind of stir crazy when I was nursing, like I was not able to go anywhere because I had to nurse every hour.

good luck.
