Default Haaaay!

Hey everyone, I'm Britty. I live in Austin, TX and I'm new here. Although, I think I may have been present on this site in the earlier 2000's back in High School, ha!

I've been on a weird, twisty weight-gaining journey for the past three years, putting on about 20-30lbs a year and I'm at about 220lbs right now. Not where I thought I'd be at all, ever. I think this mostly has to do with stress and depression, followed by some thyroid issues back in late 2015/early 2016.

I'm 28 years old, a mother of an almost 7 year old, with a fiance and a couple dogs. We're all vegan, but I haven't been eating very healthily these last few years. I also haven't really noticed myself getting bigger (thanks yoga pants). In fact, the last time I weighed myself was back in April of 2016 and I'm 20lbs heavier. I think it's some kind of reverse dysmorphia. I expect that I've lost about 10lbs though, since going back to yoga more often. I think my peak, if I had to guess, was 230.

Anyway, I put my fitbit back on last night after a year's hiatus. I'm dedicating myself to exercising more regularly and eating healthier. If you need a buddy, let me know! Would love another vegan to swap health advice and complain to. Good luck everyone and happy weight loss!

Oh, I had that reverse dysmorphia for years. I didn't feel fat, and when I looked in a mirror I didn't think I was fat, but boy my clothing and photos told a different story.

Now that I've lost weight, it's like the opposite. People keep telling me how skinny I look, and I just don't see it.

I think we get used to seeing ourselves a certain way, and it takes a long time for our brains to adjust to us looking different.

Good luck with your weight loss journey!
