Hi everyone! My name is Mari, I'm a 24 year old college student.

I joined this website purely because I'm feeling a little alone in my journey right now.
The reason why I need accountability partners is because I feel like people in my entourage don't believe in me. I've always told friends and family that I would like to watch my diet and exercise more and most of them snicker and bet on how long it'll last.

By taking this step today, I hope that I can have joy in eating whole foods and in running, my fitness activity of choice. My primary goal is to have a balanced life and for me, that includes a healthy diet and a healthy weight. Although my goal is a 40 pound weight loss, I'll be happy with 15 (I'm 160 at 5'4 right now).

My main focus for now is to achieve the following things:
- understand and let go of my emotional eating
- run for a healthy heart and for peace of mind
- be gentle towards myself and love the body I've been given.

Hi Mari. Welcome to 3FC! I find that it's sometimes best not to tell people when you start trying to lose weight for the very reason you have stated. You could try 50 times, and time number 51 might be the one that clicks. The important thing is that you are trying and never give up.

Look around the forum and use the search feature. You will see groups who discuss emotional eating, and groups that discuss running. There are college students, mothers, grandmothers and some who just want to give and receive support.
