Default Hi, I am new here..have a long way to go.

Hi, my name is Bonnie, I am 42 years old..and trying to get my weight loss going again.. Let me start by giving a little bit of a back story.

I have been over weight all my life. Not blaming anyone one, but was never taught the importance of good nutrition or exercise.

In June of 2012 i decided enough is enough, i was at my highest weight of 435 something needed to be done! So i started exercising as much as i could, was light because i have a bad back.. I spent money on the visalus shake stuff....and by October 2012 I was down to 370. I was so happy to finally see the weight coming off.

But as most time it does, life happens. I got divorced, which cut my income in half and i could no longer afford the shakes. So life goes on.

Divorced, moved, married again and weight is back up to 396 I am slowly creeping back up the scale...it terrifies me..I don't want to be that weight again..I just need something to get me motivated and moving in the right direction.

So i came across the link to this forum while searching for diet plans and decided to join, hopefully having a place to go with people that are going through the same will help me..
Thank you

Welcome Bonnie you're definitely at the right spot. Weight loss and physical fitness is all it's about on this board. It looks like when things happen in your life you turn to food for comfort--like so many on this board. You go off the wagon and you start gaining weight again. It's a very common problem when food becomes comfort.

So to get started you need to know where you're at so you can start. Here is a great easy link for you to go through that will help you do that. All you need to do is add your information--and just go through it. Set your goal weight and you will know how many calories you can consume in a day to eventually get to your goal weight. Weight loss is simple math--calories consumed during the day versus calories burned during the day. That's the simple part-the hard part is sticking to the plan, for the rest of your life. That doesn't mean you'll never be able to have a sugar fix--it just means you eat a lot less of it--and concern yourself with healthier choices in the food you eat.

Another tool that has been very helpful to me, is myfitnesspal. A free app that you can download to your computer or smart phone that keeps track of the daily calories (so easily) on your device. It also syncs with FitBit or Jawbone UP--and which determines how many steps you're taking during the day, and you can add exercise to both when you work out. You would be surprised at how many steps we take during a normal day.

Just make a plan--(no crazy diets)--and stick with it, and we're here for you. We want you to be one of our fantastic success stories on this board. Just remember this is going to take time, and dedication, and absolute 100% determination. It's going to be tough, you'll be challenged but it's worth it and you can do it. Welcome to your new life-style change journey.
