Default New here

Hi everyone! I'm Mary, and I will be 50 this year. I have struggled with my weight all my life. When I was 18 I lost 50 pounds and kept it off for years, but it came back after I had my kids. Now I'm at my heaviest weight (was 221), and feel awful all the time. All my joints hurt. I finally joined a gym for the first time and I like it. My goal was to lose 50 pounds by my 50th, but I will take whatever loss I can get. This is my new lifestyle now and I won't quit this time.

Welcome mary. I"m already 50. I will be 51 in October. Its a good idea to get this weight thing beaten now. None of us can really afford to wait any longer.

Read my diary below if you are short of ideas. My program is working. Not that i 'm saying you should do all that i do but i tell you, so many people around this site, persist in doing things that will cause diet failure even when everyone is talking about all the things that we have to do to win.

Its hard to fathom. I wonder if we all just want to do what we want to do whether or not it works. lol.

Enjoy your time on 3FC.

Mary, take your time and read as much as you can on the forum to see what weight loss plan appeals to you. You're right...it's a lifestyle change, so whatever you choose should be something you can do for the rest of your life. Everyone is different. Different food/exercise plans work for different people. One of them is the one you need.

Hi Mary,

I joined yesterday and spent literally HOURS reading the great advice and inspiration from the members. I am 63 and like you, tired of feeling sick and tired and FINALLY am at a place in my life to do something about it. I'm an information freak and looked around the web to find a group of non-judgemental, caring, sharing individuals. I'm convinced this is the place!

Good luck on your journey and let's just take this a day at a time and not beat ourselves up about our weight. Let's just get healthy!
