Hello

Hi,
My name is Sandie. I am trying to lose some weight for health reasons. I was always thin and in good shape until I ended up with a thyroid problem. Now I am overweight and have trouble losing it, I am also in menopause. I still exercise, but I seem to have a problem controlling my diet. I was always able to eat whatever I wanted and never gained a pound. It is very hard now to discipline myself. I love sugar and carbs and I think I am an addict. Lately my blood tests have been coming back as pre-diabetic, high cholesterol and high triglycerides. I am looking for tips and recipes for good meals and just general advice for weight loss. I just want to be healthy again and not hate looking in the mirror and having my picture taken.

Hi Sandie! :welcome: You have come to the right place! There is so much to learn here, lots of great recipes, and people who know what you are going through and just want the best for you! Being pre-diabetic, you definitely need to be on a low-carb diet, so be sure to check out the "Carb Counters" forum under Diet Central. Also, take a look at the "Dieting with Obstacles" forum under the Support Forum section. And consider joining one or more of the challenge threads under the sub-forum "Chicks Up for a Challenge" under "Support Groups" in the Support Forum. This is not going to be easy but it has to be done and you can do it! So browse around and jump right in! Some forums are more active than others, but the more you get involved, the more motivated and accountable you'll be. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum Sandie. I was also one of those people that could eat whatever I wanted and never gain a pound. It's very hard to diet when you have never had to. My sugars came back a little high at my last appointment. That is why I also decided to make a change.

Hello Sandie nice to see you here. I think you should have a good diet plan that control increasing your weight and sugar.
