Welcome to the club-- I'll be 50 soon too (Feb). This is a journey but one you can travel on with many folks who know what you are going thru. I don't drink, so I have no tips about stopping any cravings with that but lack of exercise- well, just take a walk to start. That's what I've done, and it's so helpful to just get out of the house and BREATH the fresh air. I am only at about 30 min walks now, but they will increase. I see you are in MI (I'm in NW Illinois) so once Fall comes to the midwest, it will be so much easier to get out on those daily walks!
