Hi All!

Hi! I'm trying the whole weight loss thing again. Haven't worked on my weight in like 3 years. My husband is going to diet with me, so hopefully between him and here I'll get some support.

My big issue is all the medications I'm on. I'm Bipolar, so I take some pretty heavy duty meds. Thankfully all the meds I'm on right now are weight neutral, so I'm hoping to lose some weight. Currently I'm also on Provigil to keep me awake and it really curbs my appetite. Since being on it I've lost 10 lbs.

One of the horrible habits I have, is drinking soda all day. Which probably comes out to 800-1000 calories a day. Me and my H are giving that up first and eating a bit healthier to see how that goes. I got some Mio, and I've been drinking that. It's not that bad.

As far as goals go, I'd like to lose 100 lbs or more. I know I need to take it in small steps so I don't get overwhelmed. My H needs to lose that much too, so we've made an agreement that once we've lost all the weight we're gonna go to Disney World, b/c we'd actually be able to fit on most of the rides. :D

Hi, I'm new this week too. We have about the same amount of weight to lose and similar medical conditions. Welcome!

Don't be discouraged if you and your hubby find yourselves drinking a bottle of soda. It is a vice for you both. You may find that using soda as a reward at the end of the month helps you with binges. Or you may have a strong mind and be able to give it up completely! :)
I swore I'd never go sugar-free because I feared the change in taste, but I find that I'm enjoying it. I have sugar-free hot chocolate in the cupboard that I pull out when I find I crave chocolate and it works a treat.

Eating healthier and exercising (30 minutes, 3 + days a week) are a good way to start until you find what works best for you. Exercising is a great way to release endorphins and feel better about yourself! There are plenty of topics on this forum that can help you out. I don't have a specific diet plan (like Jenny Craig) so I can't offer suggestions on that, sorry. (I find that I go off the rails if there are too many restrictions for me.)

:goodluck:
