Default I just want my confidence back

Hello Ladies!

I am a 30 year old married gal with a 3 year old son. When I first met my husband, I was 180lbs (I'm 5'8). I weighed 235 lbs when I gave birth to our son in 2009. Welp, here we are in 2013 and I let my weight get back up to 238....and I'm not pregnant.

The pivotal changing point for me was when someone texted me a photo of myself from 6 years ago....pre-husband/kid.... I looked so happy, so confident and so much healthier. I decided at that exact moment that I wanted to find that girl again. I want to take off this fat suit for good and never look back. I want to make healthier choices and regain my confidence.

I use to walk into a room with my shoulders held back and smile on my face. Now, I find myself cowering and trying to blend in with the crowd. I dread summertime because my breasts are waaaay beyond F's and any summery shirt draws disgusting attention from gross dudes. I have to special order bras online and I have to shop at plus size stores.

I'm sick of justifying fast food purchases from the dollar menu "because I only spent $2 on lunch, so it's ok." I'm sick of not feeling pretty. Most of all, I'm sick of the depression that comes with not being healthy.

So, my journey started 4 weeks ago and I am down 15lbs. I am doing a gluten free diet. I only drink water...nothing else, and lots of it. Eliminating soda was so difficult, but I'm so glad that all of those artificial sweeteners are out of my system.

I hope there are some of you that are similar to me! I'd love to find a motivational buddy!

I WILL get down to 150 lbs!!!!

to you. I sounds like you know what you need to do and doesn't feel better when YOU are controlling your life and not the food and whatever. GOOD for you and keep believing in yourself!

Default Hi, I'm here!

Hey, I'm new myself, actually just joined yesterday and posted my introduction. I know just how you feel as only someone who has experienced it can.

You can do it. It didn't happen overnight, but it will happen. What helps me are little mottos like
-Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.
-One year from now, you can be glad you started or wish you had.
-Do not reward yourself with food. You are not a dog.

...when I get a craving. Tracking your calories, whether with WW or something else, gives you a sense of control (at least it does for me).

And move more...I did 20 minutes of an exercise tape that was designed for people with "limited mobility" (read in a wheelchair) but I did it standing up and I finished. I did something, cause I saw where doing nothing got me. Yeah, I felt sad that that is where I had to start, but no one force fed me.

I know, I know, who am I? I have only lost three or four pounds, but I just try to spread encouragement because I believe in you. It is depressing, but hating your body is hating yourself. Love yourself enough to help yourself.

Contact me anytime if you like. Either way, welcome and all the best

See....THIS, THIS is why I love 3FC!
I love reading the words of encouragement that MrsYoung0601 and wannaskipandlaugh posted. But also because I feel like I can identify with people here. I too am 30, married, about the same weight (and I got this weight WITHOUT having a kid ), and want to get back into the body I once had.

I hope you can find what works for you, whether it be WW, IP, calorie counting, etc. and stick with it! We can do this!! I too am open to messaging who-ever to keep the support going. Good luck!!

Welcome! We are sooooo glad to have you join us here. I joined last week and the motivation and encouragement I have found here is priceless. I hate to hear that you are so depressed about yourself, but I can certainly understand it as I have been in your shoes before. I gave another newbie a piece of advice yesterday and I want to share it with you also. Before you go to bed tonight, I want you to look in the mirror and say, "I Love Me." Keep doing this as long as it takes for you to truly believe it and if the dark times of depression rear their ugly head down the road, start over and do it again. I believe that once I realized that I really loved myself is when I got serious about feeding my body healthy foods and began exercising not because I felt I had to but that it made me feel good. I am here for you and I have faith and confidence in you. You are already off to a good start with that 15 lb loss so keep up the good work and visit here often for support. I look forward to "hearing about you journey and success." Blessings, firegirl
