new chick on the block

Hi everyone!! Thought I would pop in and say hello...

54 year old divorced mom of three sons and two daughters-in-law. We are expecting the first baby in the family....the big event is in august! I love needlework and reading and cooking. (imagine that lol)

I am at a point where I am beyond frustration.:dizzy:I'm in that same of cycle of "I'm gonna do it this time, starting today" to totally blowing it at the end of the day. Seems like the scale just keeps creeping up. I've actually gained and lost large amounts of weight during my adult life. The heaviest I have been was right about 300 lbs. When I finally actively worked on taking it off, I lost 167 lbs in a little less than a year. A year or so later, I started gaining. Gained back 80 lbs. About a year after that, I lost the 80. In the last five years, I have gained back 60 of the 80 lbs.

I can find several excuses. I quit smoking two years ago. (yay me!) I've had some HUGE losses. Caregiver for someone very very close to me, that I watched die of a brain tumor. Ten months later, I lost my middle son. People say that when you comfort yourself with food, you feel bad after you've eaten. Not so with me. There's always tomorrow, right? *said sarcastically*

I've been eating disordered since I was about 12 years old. Used to do the bingeing and purging, but my body won't allow it anymore. The only way I've ever been able to lose weight was by just plain starving myself. *sigh* I've tried counting calories, eating healthier, I know how to go about it. I just don't seem to be able to.

Anyway, that's about it for me. I'm feeling positive about joining this forum, and looking forward to making new friends!:carrot:

Hi. I just joined yesterday hoping people would want to talk....hopefully they will. I am 31, amd just had my first child almost a year ago. I can totally relate to the "i'll start tomorrow" syndrome.
I am a type one diabetic and am having trouble getting motivated to lose the weight.
I cannot imagine losing a child, i am so sorry for that loss.
I lost some one very close to me last year from a muscular disorder that i was a caregiver to. He was only 17 and wanted so badly to live a full life.

I too used to lose weight by starving myself and binging and purging but the diabetes wouldnt have it any longer. So i started walking everywhere and lost 50 pounds. Oh where did that motvation go? After having my son i havent lifted a finger to get healthy until now and i am really struggling.
Well, let me know that you got this and i hope you have a great day!

thank you so much for your kind words. and i am sorry for the loss you had. your friend sounds very much like mine. she fought to live until she took her very last breath. ((((hugs)))) for you.

although i know it's the wrong way to do it...i also know it really stinks when a person struggles with health issues that work against the battle with weight. that's my problem now. i had surgery on my stomach back in september, and it's had a huge effect on how i have to eat now.

thanks so much for your message! we sound very much alike. keep up the good fight and let me know how it goes for you!!

Oh great, another wonderful Leo added to the planet! :D My BDAY is August 19th! :)

Sounds like you're going to be an awesome playmate for him! The Hot Wheels Collection will last a lifetime. My youngest, age 10, still gets excited whenever he discovers a new car that he wants to add to his collection. :)

Congratulations! :D
