I'm sorry you had to go through that.
If I had've been in your situation I would have immediately confronted them and asked them to speak up a little louder, perhaps while holding a heavy weight, but that's just me. Not everyone is able to confront such vicious nastiness and it makes me angry that two strangers would go out of their way to make you feel bad about yourself. At the end of the day they're shallow girls with no class whatsoever - their behavior says a lot more about them than it does about you.
My advice is to, like some of the other posters said, take it up with the gym staff. Seriously. I know that might not sound like a **** of a lot of fun to you right now, but you need to be able to know that when you visit that gym, which you pay to use (I'm assuming), you are in a safe space where you will be able to put your head down and work out without fear of harassment and bullying. If those girls want to bring their snidey b*tchiness to the gym, they might as well go elsewhere, somewhere their comments will be far less well-received. One of these days those girls are going to say something to the wrong person and end up leaving the gym with a broken nose.
Either confront these girls or talk to the gym staff. You do NOT deserve to be treated like this at your gym. Don't let this discourage you; you're doing absolutely brilliantly.
