Default A 40-somethings self-care journey

I am new to this web site (having lurked for a couple weeks).

I am NOT new to "dieting", "eating plans", "weight loss goals" or any euphemism for fighting obesity and struggling toward better health. In fact, I'm in my 40s and have been up and down on the scales countless times since adolescence.

Now, as the mother of a 'tween daughter, I am trying to shift the focus to health...a healthy relationship with my body & a healthy relationship with food/eating as a part of it. I hope to help her avoid my many pitfalls.

Happy to have found this community!

Thanks Holly! It gives me hope that I haven't "waited too long" to regain my health. Yup, the horse is my draft-cross darling - "Secret to Success" ...she is 9 years old, 1400 lbs and wants to know "What's in it for me?" Just like horseback, i bet it's more fun on your bike without the extra luggage!

Almost 5 years MAINTAINING is amazing Wendalyn! In the past I have taken weight off in about 2-3 year cycles... but never kept it off...so the maintenance you are mastering will be the key for me!

ME TOO! Well, actually I am 41 but I feel better than I did in my 20's and 30's. It is definitely not too late!

Ditto Holly & NEMom- I still feel like a teenager!

Thanks Gem, yeah maintenance is KEY to keeping the lbs at bay, it has to be F-O-R-E-V-E-R, well for me, just until I am 80, after that all bets are OFF, I am eating whatever the HE- dbl hockey sticks I want come 2047! Yup, that is long enough I figure..... So I'm hoping I still have my chompers (teeth) when I get there! ha ha ha

Your horse is beautiful. Yeah speaking of luggage, a favorite quote of mine is... Your body is basically baggage you must carry through life, the more excess the baggage, the shorter the trip! Sorta puts things into perspective....
Again, Welcome aboard!
