Default New Year new “me”???

Hi there! I have been overweight and unhappy with myself for sometime now. I guess it started after the birth of my son in 2004. I slowly gained and couldn’t ever seem to shake the weight and keep it off. I got pregnant again and had our baby girl in 2010. Right after she was born we found out she had Trisomy 21, better known as Down syndrome. My world was flipped upside down. I spent every waking moment making sure she went to her appointments and her therapy sessions and that she was okay. On top of all that, my husband was awarded custody of his three children from a previous marriage and we got stationed in another state and had to move. I put ME on the back burner. Eight months after my daughter was born I started seeing a therapist who diagnosed me with severe depression. I also found out that I have low thyroid. Mentally, I’m great now, but physically I am far from it. I could post excuse after excuse as to why I am heavy now. Really, there is no excuse. I want my life back. I don’t just want to lose weight but I want to be healthy. I want to set a good example for my daughter, and for all of my kids.
I’m not sure why I reached out to the internet. I have thought about going to weight watchers but we can’t really afford it. I guess I figured I will give this a try. I hope to “meet” great people and share success stories and motivation. It’s always nice to have people with you along your journey.
