Default Hello! I Need To Lose 50 Pounds In 2012.

I just started a diet today. I want to lose 50 pounds by the end of 2012. If I lose a little less or a little more it is ok with me.

I found the 2012 Challenge where I can post my weight once a month:

Anyone can join it at anytime this year.

I want to weigh myself only once a week. I am counting my calories.

I live with 2 happy chubby cats. Cats rule.
I am also wanting to join an exercize group so I can keep track of my walking and more.
How much do you want to lose this year?

Marla, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diets, themes, or age groups, find one that inspires you and just post to join! I believe there are a few groups for 2012 and several for various parts/holidays, you may want to look around and see which one you like the most and feel comfortable with. Be sure to check out the Counting Calories sub-forum and the Exercise forum. You have to be a member for 20 days and have more than 20 posts to get a ticker/signature.

PATCHWORKPENGUIN...Thanks. I did find a 2012 Challenge and joined it today.
I'll look into calorie counting & exercize forums also!
I lost quite a few pounds earlier last year, but it will take me about 2 more years to lose the rest of my weight on my new diet.
If I lose 30 pounds a year I'll be happy. 50 pounds would be ideal for this year.

Hi Marla! We have the exact same goal! I am using My Plate over at Livestrong. You can keep track of calories, they have a huge food database with all the nutrition information, etc. It's neat and all free! You can track your weight loss and measurements, too. They also have a challenge that I signed up for. They call it a dare.

I sure hope you and I can lose this weight this year!
I want to drop a couple of sizes to look better and feel better.

6DChick, I'm glad to see you joined the forum also.

This is the 2012 challenge I just joined:
***2012 Weight Loss Challenge***

I had to drop my calories down to 1500 a day to lose more weight.
I just was not losing at 1600/day anymore.

I sure hope I can lose 50 pounds this year, and its nice to know you want to also. I do hope you succeed.
But I will be happy with a 30 pound loss. The problem I have is sticking to my plan every day for the entire year. It seems such a long time.

I ate 1300 calories so far today, and I am not hungry. So I am keeping it at that for the day.

DrivenByAmbition, I know we can all lose the weight if we follow our plans and don't give up. It can get very emotional and trying at times.
I can't figure out why some of us have to get so emotional about dieting, but it seems we have our bad and good days.

Hey Marla! I'm at about the same goal as you are but by September (brothers wedding).
Try not looking at hunger as a food craving.
For example. Pregnant women get very odd food cravings but for specific foods. This is because they're body is TELLING THEM what they NEED.
When the body is deprived of certain nutrients and needs them it will signal this by telling you that you are hungry.
That's why we sometimes feel hungry even though we feel full.
Try taking a multivitamin, not only will it benefit your health but it will also reduce some of your hunger cravings because you'll be replenishing nutrients your body craves.
Also, drink water! A lot of times if you're hungry it's just an empty belly and a quick glass of water will fill it up and remove or reduce the cravings

Dank, thanks so much for suggesting the vitamins. I think they will stop some cravings.
I am taking kids Gummies vitamins and am almost out of them. They do make me feel better.
But they are not a complete vitamin. So tomorrow I'll go to the store and look for a better vitamin to take.
I heard Flintstones and Bugs Bunny are good ones.

If you can lose 50 pounds by your brother's wedding you are going to look great. Just stick to your plan, and you'll lose a lot.

Thanks Marla! Same to you Your best bet will be a Multivitamin. I just picked some up today and they were buy one get one free at Walgreens! They always have good sales.
So I got a men one for me and one for my mom.

I have a similar goal, and I think it is achievable so long as we stay strong and don't give up!! Last year I lost 30lbs and I was aiming or another 30 this year - but 50 would be even better! Which challenge did you join? Because I might join you there
