Hello! I Need To Lose 50 Pounds In 2012.

Hi Marla, and everyone else! I also just joined 3FC today. My goal is 25-35lbs with no particular time frame. The sooner the better, but I know I need to keep my health in mind, so it may take longer than I'd like. I've been putting together my own low calorie/low carb menu's, rather than following a specific plan and I've found that by eating higher amounts of protein, it's easy to lower the carbs and calories and still stay full. By 'low carb', I don't mean severly low, just around 60-80/day, which is enough to keep me from caving in to a craving and eating a whole loaf of bread! I don't know if 60-80 IS actually considered low-carb, but for a carb lover like me, it certainly is!!
I'm all for 'checking up' on fellow dieter's to help keep the commitment level high. I think that will prove to be a very important part of reaching my goals. I'd also love to share meal plans or recipes with fellow calorie/carb counters.
I vary my calorie intake daily so my body doesn't get used to a certain amount. It's very low right now, but with all of the great foods I've been eating, I'm just not very hungry. Today was 861 calories, 75g protein, and 59g carbs. I track/log all of my meals and exercise, so I will be able to look back and make adjustments when necessary. I would love to join groups with similar diet goals and interests, but I'm not sure where exactly I fit in yet! I'm going to look at the 2012 Challenge you mentioned. Maybe there's a spot for me there.

I want to lose at least 50 lbs. this year, but I'm trying for 65.
It's taken a while for me to "wake up" and see that I'm really overweight.
I'm counting calories and drinking lots of water, but I haven't gotten into a regular exercise routine.

needtolose2012, I weighed myself this morning, and so far this week I have lost 4 pounds. I don't know how many calories you need to take in every day to lose. But I am eating around 1500/day. It is working for me. I sure hope you can lose this year also.

meetzer, I am trying to increase my protein and lower my carbs as well.
I have added an egg or 2 to my daily diet. And I made a big pot of bean soup so I can eat a bowl of that every day too...for the protein in the beans.
It might take you a few months to lose your weight if you have a plan like mine. I lose around a pound a week. I lost a lot of water weight this week. So I lost 4 pounds this week.

Cinlo, It took me a looong time to start my dieting too. But we are here now.
And we will lose this weight...one pound at a time. If we stick to our plans, by the end of this year we should all be down quite a few pounds ... and look and feel better.

Hi Marla!

I just joined. I have a similar goal: I want to lose 40 lbs by my 40th birthday (July). So...step 1. I have to learn how to count calories and be accountable for my food. Seems like a good group!

Joshua E, Thanks for the good wishes. I sure want to lose the 50 pounds.
So far I am losing by dropping my calorie intake down to 1500/day. We'll see what happens over the course of this year.

Maybe by Sunday I will go down another pound...I hope.

Emilmagdy, you are right. Exercize is very important.
I have my own exercize equipment and also go to a club...and walk on a track also.
Every little bit helps toward taking off the weight.



I hope you succeed in losing a lot of weight in 2012!

My calorie counting is working.
I have lost 6 pounds since the first of the year by limiting the calories to 1500 per day!
Anyone else having success so far this year?

Hope all you losers out there are doing well, and for you wanna be losers.....hang in there!
It's a long way to 2013 and we have a lot of time left to lose a lot of weight.

I have lost another pound this week!
Only 43 more pounds to lose by the end of this year. YAY!
