Let's see, I dyed my hair platinum, and got it all cut off (not that there was a lot to cut!), am getting my walks in everyday and struggling with food somewhat but still losing inches.

Blackbird: how old is dd? I adore my grandson, but he can wear you out especially since fat ole me plays hide and seek and horsey ride and such with him. He thinks his Nonny is just this chubby 3 year old I think! Hope you can get that back problem solved. I was having horrible backaches for quite a while and discovered that I was leaning forward when I walked, was keeping my head down and was walking on a tilted service. When I started going to the mall everyday, the backaches disappeared!

Hope everyone is doing well!Take care and have a good evening.

Donna,

Congradulations on your trip to the casino and the win. Nice that you noticed your inches lost too. I do measure once a month, I can admit that I have found it a little motivating since my pound loss has been stagnate lately. Exercise I have decided is definately a must, I do Leslie Sansones Walk & Tone and Pilates, but have been thinking about getting Denise Austin's step aerobics video, am due for a change. I have decided that I will probably have to do some sort of exercise for the rest of my life or as long as I can....lol ! I know that this is the last time I ever want to do the big "dieting" thing, once I reach my goal my plan is to continue to weigh weekly and only alow myself a 5lb grace before I make sure I get rid of it, the weight loss thing was far easier when I was in my 20's....darn!!!!

I hope the counseling will be good for my dd too! Time will tell.

Blackbird, sorry to hear about your back. I too have had some problems with my back the last couple weeks, stemming from an old injury, I have been taking muscle relaxers and modifying my exercise so I don't irritate more, it has been better the last couple of days.

I also hear you on the "adults" thing! I have been with my kids 24/7 for 6 months, but SOON a break is coming, as soon as my folks get home I am planning to go away for 2 or 3 days on a much needed and deserved vacation, plus I am sure Grandma and PaPa will enkoy some time with the kids.

Glad all is well for you both. Have either one of you checked out the fitday.com site, I love it, use it everyday to track my food intake and activity, beats writing it down or journaling! Just curious, I am sure it is not for everyone.

You all take care, and god bless....

Mom: You are right, Fitday is terrific. I just went there and started an account. I have been keeping a paper journal but have been bored with it and so getting lax. I hope this will be more of an encouragement to me as it really keeps track of a lot of stuff! Thanks for the info.

Blackbird: Hope you are doing well today.

I have to run, as I want to finish cleaning upstairs and need to post to the rest of my threads!

Just checking in to see how you guys are doing! I have been real busy with my folks home and all, I was a bad girl and took a week off from the dieting thing, I still worked out everyday though, so I don't feel too bad, and I got all my cravings out of my system for a while.

Blackbird, I hope your back is better, and everything else is going good too!

Donna, hope all is good in your neck of the woods too!

you all take care now....

hi this is my first reply. i am glad that you were able to leave and your kids are fine i can tell you it takes a lot of time to heal i took my 5 boys out of that life style back in 97 but the sad part is if it was not for a close friend i would have not left alive. and it is a very hard thing for alot of people to amit is happening. because of the long past i dont trust and dont make friends because it was like no one understands. and my boys have came along way and still have along road ahead of them.

Hi,

I am happy to hear that you had the strength to make a better life for your kids. I too had a close friend and family that helped me out, I am still in counseling as is my daughter ( age 4), fortunately my son was too young to remember anything. I moved 300 miles away from everything I knew, I now have new friends and all in all life is pretty good. My parents will never understand how I allowed it all to happen, but coersion is a strong enemy that you don't realize until it is too late, although now I am very aware....thank god.

I am still single, and although it is difficult and lonely sometimes, I know that I am far better off.

As for dieting, it is going well, I have finally reached a loss of 50 lbs, with 45 left to go. Best of all I am doing this for me, not any man.

I hope you come back and visit me when you can, and maybe we can share more as time goes on... gotta go clean house before it gets hot, supposed to be around 100 here today.

You take care of yourself and your children...till later

I am a survivor of going on 14 years now. I used food as my control and took it to an extreme getting down to 98lbs. The important thing to know is that you are a survivor, and you are strong and that is what your kids need you to be. Luckily I didn't have kids in this situation but I also worked with abuse survivors and have seen. It was my way of giving back. Anyway good luck and if you want to talk let me know.

God Bless,
Pattie

Pattie and Wendijo,

Hello to both of you, and thank you for your response. It has been sometime since I have been at this site and was surprised and happy to have replies to my post.

Things for me and my children have been going quite well. It has been 3 years and I am now considering filing for full custody of my children.... a scarey thought for me.

Pattie, thanks to people like you, people like me are afforded the opportunity to change things in our lives for our families and live better lives...THANK YOU!

I wish you both the best, and hope to hear from you in the future.

Hi Msmomm2, I just saw this thread as well and saw that you were worried about your son developing an addiction like his father through genetics. While it is stated that a person related to an alcoholic is 4times as likely to develop an addiction, I just wanted you to know that environment plays a HUGE role. My mom was married to an alcoholic and she left him when I was 4. I was raised around strong females and good male role models that did not rely on booze. I think that makes a big difference. I even still saw my father periodically. I want you to know that I am fine, happy, healthy (with a little extra weight that is coming off now!) and most importantly, not addicted to drugs or alcohol. I know it was a fear of my mother's that I would turn out like my father or head down that road in some way but because she was very informative about drugs and alcohol and kept me around good people, I believe that is why I never even took a drink in highschool unlike all of my friends and peers. I wish you all the luck in life and with weightloss, you seem to be doing absolutely wonderful. Such an inspiration, your daughter is lucky to have such a strong mother as her female role model. :-)

Linus,

I am so happy that things worked out good for you in the end. I watched a DV special on Oprah a few months ago where a teatment center concentrated on treating the whole family to fix the problem, many of the couples came out stronger and better than before...I am happy that you found that balance without outside help...congrats!

ozziesgirl,
You give me inspiration that my children may survive this. Fortunately they were quite small when I left, my daughter was 20mths and my son was 5 weeks. My daughter went through counseling for about 6 mths, as she was a very angry child, we still work on that issue, but she is much better than she was a year ago.

As for weight loss, I have been stuck for quite sometime at a 53lb loss, I guess the upside is I am not gaining and I feel a lot better about myself. I wish all of you who come here the best in all aspects of your lives and god bless.

Till next time....
