I'm about 400 days away from turning 40.

I'm not that worked up about it, it's just a number, right?

But I realized that regardless of the next 400 days, I'm going to be 40. I can be a more slender 40, or a chunky 40.

A writer at 40, or a wanna-be writer at 40.

A person who can achieve goals at 40, or not.

So, I just sat down and decided that it's going to happen. I have about 50 pounds to lose, and I am back on the "old" WW program. See, I was doing WW well (lost about 17 pounds) last fall. Then they changed. I hated the new system, because the old system I KNEW and it worked for me.

They changed my system, and I was mad. So I gave up. And here we are in August, 8 months later, and I not only REGAINED the 17 pounds, I added another 10. UGH!

So, I'm turning to 3chicks for the support I used to get at WW meetings. Looking forward to learning from (and leaning on) you guys.

Hee! When I first read the title of your post, I thought, "Oh wow, we're about the same age!" But I did some calculations and figured out you're way older than me. I don't turn 40 for another 600 days. (I'm kidding of course.)

It sounds like you have a good plan. If it works, it works, and that's what counts. Good luck!

Hi....that really struck a chord with me because we are amost exactly the same age. I turn the dreaded 40 in September next year, and even though I haven't yet turned 39 I'm thinking what a great goal it would be to get well, slim and healthy for the big 40. On the flip side, I am thinking how hellish it would be to turn 40 in the same situation. I'm new on here but looking forward to getting to know people in the same position and to hopefully help others also.x

I turn forty exactly 90 days from today so I have all of you beat, lol. I started my weight loss journey to get fit and healthy when I was 36. I, too, wanted to be in the best shape possible when I turned the dreaded 40. I am also pursuing writing as a profession. I am now a wanna-be writer posting some fiction on the internet sites for amateurs. I think that turning 40 can be great because it gives you a chance to take stock of your life and make changes. I'm with you in spirit and you're definitely not alone. Good luck and welcome to 3FC!

I know how you feel. I will be turning 30 next year. Not as close as 40, but I get the drift. I know you can lose the weight. You can do it!
