Default Over 50 and overweight

Hi to all! It is day two for me, and I am excited about the support that I see on this site.

I am soon to be 58 and want to stick around for my kids, particularly my daughter. They lost their dad (my ex-husband) when they were 18 and 22, and I don't like to think what it would be for them if they lost me too. I also swore many years ago that I would not stop living at the age of 60 the way my mother did. Her issues were health problems related to smoking. But I am going to be in the same shape because of my weight if I don't get my rear in gear. I want to be able to garden and remodel and build and be active

So. I have set up my weight loss tracker to my first mini-goal. I had it set up for the entire planned weight loss, and I found myself being overwhelmed, so one step at a time!

I am looking for other 50+ professional women who have desk jobs (I am blessed to be able to work from a home office). Good luck to us all!!!

Hi Annie and welcome! I am a lurker here but, I had to say hi to a fellow fifties member. I am 56 and currently unemployed due to a layoff. 3fatchicks is an awesome sight. I get loads of information as well as inspiration. I have never been a joiner. I am trying to become more active. Calorie counting is the only thing that has worked for me. My highest weight was 272 in 2006. I have lost 58 pounds.

You came to the right place.
