Hi! I found this forum a while back and recently stumbled across it again. It seems very helpful, inspiring and supportive. I'm glad to have found it!
I am a 31 yr old mom of 4 under 10 and a full time university senior. I am stressed!!!!
I have autoimmune thyroid disease which I have been treated for since the age of 21. I have stayed 40-60 lbs overweight since that time, but was thin all of my life before that. My whole family is thin as well, so being heavy feels unnatural for me.
I am currently 60 lbs overweight and pretty miserable. I am constantly fatigued, have joint pain and feel terrible about myself. I went to weight loss specialist (MD) for the first time a couple of weeks ago out of desperation. He put me on the HCG/500 calorie diet. I have been doing it for 4 days, but feel terrible and intuitively think it's not the right choice for me.
I have had some success with Atkin's years ago, but the rich foods made me feel heavy and kind of gross after a while. I have been eying the paleo diet, wondering if it might me a bit better for me.
Anyhow, I would love to make friends here - especially ones who have found successful ways to lose weight (in a reasonable way) with thyroid disease and keep it off!
