Default Hello everyone!!

New to this website, found it by going to the Metabolic Research Center website, the place sounds great but at this moment cannot afford it, so I came here to see if I could get some ideas, tips, exercises, anything that will help me loose the 75 lbs I need to loose, but at this point loosing anything will just be a miracle. I am totally desperate as I have tried everything in the world to loose this weight and everyday it creeps on more and more, now I am 5;01 and already 205 lbs, not even when 9 moths pregnant did I weight this much, and of course 55 yrs old, don't know if is because of the menopause or not, but it sounds like a good excuse...

Wish me luck.. .

Welcome! This place is teeming with great ideas and advice. Read lots of threads, think about what will work for you, and take a step! You don't have to have all the answers from day 1. Good luck!

Hi loly and welcome.

I am in your same age range (will be 58 in June) and I also ended up about 20 lbs. heavier than I was at 9 months pregnant during any of my 3 pregnancies. This happened due to a medication I was put on but I was literally horrified....and stunned...that I could have possibly gotten to that weight. It was just way beyond any sort of extra weight I'd ever had to deal with or worry about. It was literally overwhelming.

But listen...you do NOT need to pay all sorts of expensive membership fees in order to follow a specific diet. There are all sorts of forums and threads here on a whole assortment of diets....all the ones out there, in fact. You can read around and find ones that seem like they could work for you and then join that particular forum or the threads for that plan. Plus, you can get all the support and help you need here that you'd have to pay for in order to get from these other places. And to boot, the people here are actually DOING the plan, not just selling it and/or advising on it....so IMO, the help and advice here is way better than what you'd have to pay for.

I'm also on the Atkins forum here (under low-carb plans) and also on the 50+ thread (under support forums).

Hi loly!
All of us can relate to how frustrating and overwhelming it can be (and menopause can play a role), but it sounds like you're ready to get it done with a good plan - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired. Try the 50+ forum and the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation. Check out the MRC forum to meet others on your same plan.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee
