Default Hello Everyone

I'm 19 (almost 20) years old and have been overweight all of my life, despite being on multiple sports teams that worked my butt off, being a competitive irish dancer, and being a picky eater. After hitting college 2 and a half years ago, I sort of gave up on being "healthy" because I felt like if I couldn't do it running miles a day during conditioning for my teams, there was no way that I could do it alone and with minimal exercise.

Well. I'm heavier now then before (224 lbs) and I'm tired of it. I want to repair my body image (which was never great) and my body so that I can go do the things that I've wanted to for so long. Like going swimming or going back to irish dancing.

So, this is me starting the process. I have to lose almost 70 lbs, I know it could be worse, but it's a big number from where I'm sitting. All through sports I always failed at any attempt to lose weight. I just hope that I can keep up the motivation to get down to 155 lbs.

Welcome Fourleaf!

It might feel like a big number, but try breaking it down into manageable chunks like 10 pounds, or 10%, something like that. It helps make it all feel more possible. Good luck!

Hi fourleaf!
How smart to take control and get back on track to a healthier you - I'm sure you'll be successful, just take it a step at a time, breaking it up into mini goals so it won't seem overwhelming - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired - you'll be a wonderful addition to any of them. There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help get through the ups and downs. Try the 20 somethings forum and the weightloss support forum, they're active and very helpful - also the Success Stories are a must!

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee
