Hello :)
Hi all,
I've always been big. I managed to lose weight and get down to something close to normal in my late teens/early 20s but it was mostly due to being a poor student with no car who worked non stop and couldn't really afford groceries. As soon as my lifestyle became a little more comfortable the weight crept back on. Now here I am at 33 and I have recently had a health scare that let me know I can no longer ignore this. Gallstones. Abnormal sugar levels. My father passed away earlier this year due to diabetes, and my mother is also a type II diabetic. I need to do this now. I can no longer put it off. I came across this site a few weeks ago and have been back almost daily. The information is great, and I am so inspired by the success stories! I've checked out about 10 books from my local library, including ones suggested on this site, and I have been trying hard to change my habits. I've stopped drinking and I'm eating healthier, but still have loads of improvements to make in the exercise, portion control and advance meal planning areas. I've never participated in an online forum, but this one just seemed so informative and so supportive that I wanted to become a part of it.
