Default New kid in town

Hi. I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 46 and a mother of a 19yo son. A friend of mine turned me on to this site. I have recently begun to lose weight due to my job implementing the Weight Watchers at Work program. The points system works but really what they taught us is what we all learned in elementary school. Eat proper portions from the food pyramid - the four food groups and all that. I've lost 32 lbs so far but the program at work is finished and I'm now on my own and I have a long way to go. Yeah, I know I could go to a meeting anywhere but the best part about having it at work was the fact that I walked right down the hall when I got off work. Once I leave work, I know I will just go straight home. If there were a meeting on the way, I'd probably go but they're all downtown and I cringe at the thought. I've still been doing ok. I gained less than a pound (0.7) during the Thanksgiving holiday and it will be off by Friday I'm sure. But then I've got Christmas holidays to contend with so wish me luck...ahhh....heavy sigh....

Congrats on your weight loss so far, 32 lb is awesome, bet that makes a huge difference! I'm a lurker here and a "sometimes poster" but I've found reading a lot of the posts has encouraged me.

Good luck on continuing your new lifestyle.

Hi jdreamer!
Congrats on your success so far -the support you need is here - you can do this - and we'll all be here to cheer you on!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
