Default Male: Should I even BE here!?

Well, folks, it has came to this.

My name is....we'll say B, I'm from Scotland and I am a civil servant.

Here's the problem, I am 23 years old, and matching my age, weigh (just over) 23 stones. I have recently had a health check, ie collesterol, blood pressure etc and everything came back all clear. To be honest, at that point I felt great ('At least my weight isn't having an effect on my all round health')...

That was about 6 weeks ago, and has taken a lot to come to this but I have to admit it, I am severely obese; And it's becoming a problem.

Personally I feel fairly well, but I can see the way my apart looks at me, I know she'll love me forever, but I dont know 'it' will be there much longer.

I am a fairly loud and funny fella, enjoy the pub (who doesn't) and ma grub; but have came here for help, advice and maybe the old verbal hug.

I'm really focused on doing this. But need help on how to start, its been so hard even coming to this.

Thanks, B

Hi B, welcome to the community - of course you should be here!

Joining this site will be a great turning point for you as you can find all the help and support you need to get you started with losing weight.

The best advice I can give is to find a weight loss plan that suits you, and stick to it. I see lots of people who try a plan for a few weeks and give up because they haven't dropped 5 stone! As long as you keep taking steps down the right path, you will get there.

Congratulations on joining the community and posting - it can be so nerve wracking at first, but don't be afraid to get stuck in.

Good luck and I hope to see you around the forums!

It took a while to get to the weight you are at, just remember it's going to take time to get back down.

Start slow, change your diet first, cut out fast food, stop drinking or cut back on that as well, start cooking more at home, get your significant other involved to help you- I'm sure she will be happy to help. Little changes here and there will add up big time.

For me calorie counting has worked best and over time I have started choosing foods that are more filling and lower cal and full of fiber. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies each day as well as lean meats and whole grains.

Good luck you can do it!

Welcome B to 3FC. Go under Support forums, then Weight loss Forums, and then look for the thread on page 2 dated 5/20 that's a Men's group thread.
I don't know to much about it since I just joined recently too. There are alot of info. on other forums about types of diets to follow, and exercise info. and support. After, 20 days and 20 posts you can get a weight loss ticker.

Good Luck!

HI there! I`m also from Scotland and have also joined only a week ago.

I`m really glad that I have joined the forum. I struggled to do it myself but logging on for a few mins in the morning and a few mins at night reminds me what I am doing this for.

Have you got a plan, how you want to do it?

Thumbs up Welcome B (jobbybumface)

Welcome B (jobbybumface)

And, in honor of your first post on 3FC, :wel3fc

Yep, there are some of us men about; the "men's forum" linked above is a good place to collect names.

To get started, you can select an eating plan and an exercise plan. Many choices of each, and they all have threads. Hope to see you around.
