Default I'm going to do it!

I hate being fat... and boy am I fat! I'm not sure exactly how much I weigh; I am gonna guess 285#! I am a 35 year old, 5'9" man. AND I HAVE HAD IT! I'm tired of people calling me "Big Guy;" tired of not being able to buy clothes that look decent on me, and tired of everything else that comes with being obese.

So I decided I am going to lose it! And I decided that I wanted to "inspire" other people to lose weight as well... So... Tomorrow I have a meeting with my boss on starting a "Biggest Losers Club." We have 300+ employees and many of them are either overweight or obese. Our company offers a FREE gym membership; this I found out today! I have spoken to some of my coworkers and quite a few are very eager to join and lose weight; some need to lose 20-30... some 70-100. I decided we would each put in $2 a week, and divide the money between the top three "losers" at the end of 16 weeks (60/25/15). Not that money is MY goal, but if it helps motivate others to change their lifestyle and lose weight...

So I found this website and will share it with all the people who sign up as well So does anyone know any place that I can get some good nutritional information and simple exercise routines (like what exercises target what areas of the body)? I want to print these out and distribute them to my fellow contestants.

Be prepared you will definitely hear more from me as this whole experiences gets started and on it's way. My goal is to be around #170-#175; however long it takes

Fixxer, you sound really focused and positive. I hope that it goes well for you. Even if you don't win the competition you can think of the other positive rewards that weightloss will bring to your life.

As to diet plans there's literally hundreds out there and I think the main thing is finding what's right for you. I'd start with reducing your fat and keeping an eye on portions, cut out high calories snacks and replace with fruit. This works fine for many people (dare I say, especially men). Add in some regular exercise, if you don't already and see how this goes for a few weeks.

Others maybe along and give you some specific website which can give you nutitional advice.

Welcome

Kitty

ExRx and The Training Station have been a lot of help to me in the past.

As far as food goes I would take a week or two and track every single bite. There are a number of great sites such as FitDay, Sparkpeople, CalorieCount and Daily Plate.

Good Luck

That sounds like such a great idea to do a Biggest Loser Club at work. I was thinking of doing the same thing, but everyone is reluctant to give up potluck day!
