Can I still say "baby fat" if my daughter's 8? :)
Hi all! My name's Leslie, I'm 33 and I live in Wisconsin. I've got 2 great kids. My stepson, Lucas, is 11 and he lives with us full time. My daughter, Michaela, is 8 (she's the one in the title to my post!) and yes, I'm still calling the tire around my waist "baby fat." I think that's probably run it's course though, and even though I've known I need to do something about it and I've "tried" over the years, I'm really ready this time.
I'm a nurse, and I love what I do, but it isn't the best thing I've ever done for my body. It's taken a toll on my back, and 3 weeks ago I thought I'd thrown my back out again (it would've been the third time in three years). The short version is that I found out I actually have some degenerative issues in my back and some things that aren't going to resolve quickly, and I'm going to be off work for at least 9 weeks for therapy before they'll think about letting me go back. Oh yeah, and it wouldn't hurt if I lost "50 or 60 pounds."
So I've been home for 3 weeks already, and just not being at work stressing out and eating too much has been a good thing, because even though I haven't been able to exercise, I've already lost 6 pounds just being at home and taking care of myself. I'd forgotten what it was like to do that!
I'm not looking to be skinny. I'm just looking to be healthy. I put on 47 pounds when I was pregnant with Michaela long, long ago, and my top weight was 247. I'm currently 236. I want to be 160. I just need to be accountable to someone, so here I am!

Reason: just picky about my wording :)
